(Rin's P.O.V)
The ground was covered with snow when I awoke in Mine and Sesshomaru's chambers. I heard a cry outside and looked to see Jaken had gotten hit with a snowball, 'But who would have thrown that far?' I looked more to the right to see my mate with a slight smile as he kneeled down and patted our 'pup' Avalyn on the back. Looking to the left I had discovered our other pup Misaki was eating the snow, her nose a bright pink from the cold. I smiled and got out of the bed and got dressed to go outside to join my mate in watching the pups.
(Sesshomaru's P.O.V)
My mate's breathe was against the glass as she was looking out at the snow on the ground, I had sensed her waking. I was going to go in and give her a morning kiss til I heard Jaken's muttered cry, I turned to see he had been hit with a snowball by Avalyn. I smiled ever so slightly and knelt before her to pat her back, she cheered her victory, I looked at the window to see Rin looking at Misaki eating snow. Rin shifted away to get dressed and I picked up Misaki and took the snow away from her. "Don't eat snow Misaki.. It could have an bug or something in it" I turned around to come nose to nose with my mate.
"Good morning my love, sleep well?" I leaned down and kissed her lips gently. "Yes, I didn't know it had snowed last night" Rin smiled with her eyes gleaming with excitement. This made my heart melt again for the 1st time since we had mated, "Rin, I love you" I placed my forehead on hers. Her smile brightened even more, "I love you too, Sesshomaru" I felt her lips on mine, I kissed back and I felt the tickle of her tongue on my lower lip, my eyes flashed open to see her smirk and that look in her eyes. I opened my mouth to let her tongue explore the territory as I did the same.. starting the dance of the tongues, I heard a "Yuck" come from Misaki we pulled apart as Rin picked up Misaki and held her close to her on her chest. I picked up Jaken upside down in the snow and picked up Avalyn in my other arm as we walked inside.
(Rin's P.O.V)
We all sat down in the kitchen as I talked to the maids and cooks about making the Christmas breakfast and asked them to join us if they would like. Sesshomaru had sat down and was holding our newest pup Jace feeding him the formula from the store we had walked to the other day. Jace was now 4 months old, his first Christmas. Poor little guy has two older sisters that will protect him later in life, well they kinda already do. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked to see I had spaced out, Sesshomaru was giving that worried look, I than saw he had handed over Jace to the nurse that took care of him.
"Are you ok, Rin?" His voice was filled with concern, I looked down at Misaki and Avalyn looking up at me. "Yes I'm fine, I was just thinking" I walked out of the kitchen towards the living room as I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to see Inuyasha, Kagome, and their children all a bit chilly from the walk. "Come in you will catch your death out there!" I pulled them all into the house and they got comfortable in the living room. I walked back into the kitchen as Sesshomaru asked me who was at the door. "Inuyasha, Kagome, and their pups" Sesshomaru's face darkened and he rubbed his brow in frustration.
Later that day
Sesshomaru's glare hadn't lessened on Inuyasha as he sat across from him at the table at dinner time. "Boys I know you hate each other but don't teach the pups hate by this idiotic glaring war you have going on" I said above their growling, Inuyasha's ears flattened on his head and Sesshomaru looked away to Misaki, Avalyn, and Jace. I sat back down and looked to Kagome who was a bit frightened by my act of courage, as I'm usually a quiet person. I went back to eating dinner and the rest of the staff left after that display,
"So what are you guys doing here on Christmas Eve?" I asked before Kagome perked up and smiled. "I thought it would be nice for us to spend time as an entire family on Christmas" I looked to Inuyasha and his ears perked up a bit, Avalyn looked up and sniffed the air. "Well that sounds like a nice idea don't you think so Sesshomaru?" I looked at him and elbowed his side. "Yea... Sure..." Sesshomaru said before called the maid to tell her to show them to their rooms after dinner.
That night
Sesshomaru sat on the bed reading a book when I walked in, his reading glasses placed on the brim of his nose and over his elf-like ears. He looked up over the top of the book at me than laid it to the side and took off his reading glasses, patting the space beside him. I crawled into bed next to him as he leaned over me and turned me towards him, "Rin, remember the first time we mated?" He said as his hand traveled my body, a shiver ran through me as his hand rested between my legs. Sesshomaru noticed this with a smirk, "Yes I remember.." My voice a bit weaker than before.
