Just Like Julia

August 12 part 1

"Okay Bella, so I called the caterer to make sure everything's set. The flouriest already got back to me and we have the bride's maid dresses. We're ready."

"Alice I really can't thank you enough for this."

"Bella you forget that I live for this stuff." She let out a sigh. "So, you ready?"

"For what?"

"Bella! The wedding…tomorrow…you walking down the aisle!"

"Relax Alice. I was just kidding."

"I'm sorry but I put too much effort into planning this for you to forget when it is."

"You wanted to plan it."

"I know and I enjoyed every minute of it."

Once Alice's grin left her face Edward walked into the room. I automatically perked up. All this talk of parties and celebrations was really getting me down. As Charlie had once said, "You know Bella, you never were one for parties."

Edward gracefully sat next to me on Alice's bed, which felt brand new seeing as she never slept on it.

"May I see the dress now?" He asked in his velvet voice which I adored.

"Absolutely not!" Alice was screaming. It was a bit appalling hearing such a loud voice come out of such a tiny figure. "You're not even supposed to be in here!"

"Bella do you think my presence here will plague our marriage for all of eternity?"

"I think we'll do just fine."

"Sorry Alice, overruled." His voice flowing like honey.

"Fine. You can stay, but you can't see the dress."

"Deal." It seemed Edward was getting better at compromises every day.

We all sat there for a moment. Alice seemed to be regaining control of herself and it became apparent to Edward that he had dropped in on some mandatory girl talk. I didn't want him to leave, but not only was Alice giving him a look, I was in desperate need of some girl talk.

"I'll see you later," he sighed. It was obvious that Alice had told him to leave without me noticing. Even though my heart crushed as he said that, I knew I could take comfort in his arms later.

As the door closed Alice jumped up and asked me, "So, do you want to see Edward's tux?"

"Sure Alice."

We walked, well, she sprinted and I walked, into her room size closet and headed toward the very back where my dress hung. It had a mate. Next to the beautiful, lacy white gown hung a black, pristine tuxedo. As I took in it's prominence, joy washed over my face as I knew it was his.

"Well, don't you just love it?"

"…..Alice…," I truly was speechless, "Alice…it's….perfect."

"I knew you'd like it."

"Well of course you knew Alice."

Once I peeled my eyes away from the matching garments, Alice was dressed in her bride's maid dress. There she stood in a model's pose wearing a rich scarlet, a-line, knee-length, deep v-neck dress. That particular color was stunning against her alabaster skin. Her silver, strappy, high-heel sandals put her at about my height. She continued to make various poses then walked to the other end of the closet as if she we on the runway, a place where Alice really belongs, and ending her performance with a final spin. As she spun, the bottom of the dress levitated from its downward position to making an elegant circle in the air, exposing her white legs even more.

"Rosalie and Esme have dresses just like this one," she said her voice sounding like wind chimes.

"Alice, would you mind if I tried on my dress?"

"Go right ahead." Her voice sounding even more like a child's due to her sheer exuberance.
