Hi all! This is an AnnaxYoh one-shot, hope you like it. It's a songfic, by the way. The song is Believe by Yellow card; if you go to my blog under entries there will be an Inuyasha music video (which made me cry) that plays this song. It's really nice.

For Anna, believing in Yoh was like believing in herself.

Anna had seen a lot through those eyes of hers. She'd witnessed death, pain, happiness, and millions of emotions; through those very eyes. Not once did she shed a single tear for any unhappy thing she saw. Nor did her liquid black pools glisten with moisture at any time throughout all her 13 years. But today, for the first time in history, she allowed herself to cry.

"Think about the love inside the strength of heart

Think about the heroes saving life in the dark"

A hero. He was a hero. That would have sounded much better. But he wasn't. Yet he was. He was a hero at death, that's what they said. That's what they thought. She refused to have faith that he truly was gone. And that once he was dead; he wasn't a hero. No. He'd remain a hero throughout eternity. At least, that's what Anna believed.

"Climbing higher; through the fire

Time was running out

Never knowing you weren't going to be coming down alive"

For her, he had risked his life. He KNEW there would only be a few seconds for any person to escape from the ruthless flames. He knew. But yet he stayed. She recalled how he desperately called out her name; how she responded with equal distress, and how he smiled at her when he finally found her. How his eyes twinkled with love and relief. "You only have a few seconds to escape," he told her. "Me? What about you?" she asked as she stepped on the window ledge, preparing to jump. "I'll find a way," he assured her, and she hesitated, looking at him and the raging fire. Noticing her apprehension, he pushed her and she fell. As she landed on the trampoline, she tilted her head up to watch him fall; to watch him land safely beside her. But he never appeared.

"But you still came back for me

You were strong and you believed

Everything is gonna be alright

Everything is gonna be alright

Everything is gonna be alright

Be strong. Believe."

She didn't understand why he didn't jump. But she believed in him and that was enough. She knew he had a reason. But that didn't stop her from crying. Because she loved him. She drew a sharp breath. She had to be strong. Because she believed.

"Think about the chance I never had to say

Thank you for giving up your life that day"

She never told him to his face that she loved him. It was always what she did that silently told him. She never had a chance to say those 3 words. And he died before she could ever say them.

"Never fearing, only hearing voices calling out

Let it all go, the life that you know, just to bring them down alive

And you still came back for me

You were strong and you believed"

Everyone was screaming for him to jump. But he didn't even appear. It was almost as if after saving her, he disappeared. She still heard his voice in her dreams, still saw his image flash through her mind. She still loved him.

"Everything is gonna be alright

Everything is gonna be alright

Everything is gonna be alright

Be strong. Believe. (X2)

(Again today, we take into our hearts and minds those who

Perished on this site one year ago, and also those who came

To toil in the rubble to bring order out of chaos, to help us

Make sense of our despair)"

Everybody advised her to call for his spirit, to see him once again… but she never did. It was selfish, she knew, and unlike her. She loved him so much… seeing him again and then having to comfort herself with the knowledge that it was just a spirit would kill her. Truly.

But she believed. And that was the most important thing.
