- Ravenclaw, spoke the hat in a pitch voice.

I stood up from my chair, leaving the sorting hat to decide the future of yet another first year student. Looking at the big crowd of Hogwarts students, sitting around those four enormous tables, I was feeling more homesick than ever. Maybe it really was a bad idea to have come here…

I am half-blood. My father is a wizard, and my mother was born a muggle. While daddy really enjoyed the idea of me pursuing the studies of Magic and Wizardry, in the very same school he had spent seven years of "unforgettable fun", as he often remembered us -and himself. My mother wasn't really keen of that idea. She obviously had no problems with the Magical World, as she had married a pure-blood wizard, but the matters that had occurred at Hogwarts the year before, left her enormously worried.

The Chamber of Secrets had been opened, and some muggle-born had been petrified. The Daily Prophet stated very well that the Castle wasn't a safe place anymore. Although the security had been reinforced, and Dumbledore had given my father his own word, that everything was back to normal, mummy was still worried about my safety. It took me a lot of tears and promises to get her acceptance, and be finally able to join my dream school.

I had quite documentation, before attending Hogwarts. I was initially meant to join the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, in France, but something about Hogwarts had enchanted me. The large Castle had so many doors to open, and so many secrets to find out. The simple sight of it, twenty minutes ago, almost got me fainting. The barely lightened breath-taking towers immediately caught my eye, the Astronomy Tower was definably a place I wanted to see right-away.

But as for now, I was still staring to the four houses, sited right in front of me, whom most of them seemed to see me struggling to make a move, or to simply say a word.

- Everything alright, dear?

I directed my sight to the trembling, yet melodic voice that just came into my ears.

-Y-yes, I stuttered.

- Well, then you should join your house mates, go sit at the Ravenclaw table.

- Yes, ma'am.

I gathered my energy, and walked shamefully to the blue and bronze striped table. Next to me, was seated a beautiful blonde girl who seemed a bit older than me. By a simple look to her face, I noticed a comforting smile that she seemed to be addressing to me. I smiled back, and she spoke:

- Hello, I am Luna, Luna Lovegood.

- H-hi, I'm Amilda, nice to meet you.

- Yes, it is nice meeting you too!

She seemed very nice, and had an angelic innocent aura that had me trusting her without knowing anything more than her name.
