Black Balloon! One of my favorite songs! It's not based off of most of the song, but I could do one of those—this is only based off the last line, which is so horribly mushy and soft I couldn't resist doing this!

SUMMARY: Several years into the future, Danny sacrifices himself for Sam. Sam, troubled and scarred, decides to honor him and become somewhat of a living memorial. DxS. DRABBLE.

DISCLAIMER: what do you think? NO.

RATED: T for some mild graphics.

"Now to finish you off…once and for all."

"Sam, run!"

"NO! I'm not leaving you alone with the jerkier version of yourself!" Sam stood her ground and stamped her foot.

"She'll be going first, I suppose." The deep voice cut through the air like a steak knife, cutting into Danny. The blast came as a bright flash to her. She remembered only two things of that moment:

The flash.

And Danny's scream.

The next thing she knew, the corpse of a boy was left bleeding in her hands, limp and lifeless. He had sacrificed himself…for her. The only thing she could do for him was avenge him.

"YOU SELFISH JERK!" she screamed. She didn't say much more, as words couldn't express the anger boiling up in her. Danny's opposite, his evil side personified, only grinned and disappeared.

I guess that was the way it was supposed to go. The hero dies just to save the damsel in distress. As much as I despised that title, that's what I was: just his friend who had only a small arsenal of weapons and had no upper hand in the fight at all.

I do see his ghost—Danny Fenton—floating around sometimes. He's always being bullied by the other ghosts. But I see him sometimes fighting back. I guess he's lost the will to do it. Since he can't fight anymore—imagine the results—Tucker and I have taken his place. We're the saviors now.

Sort of.

We round up the ghosts and give it to the Fentons. Valerie gave up. Danny's death troubled her so much that she gave up ghost hunting for good. The Fentons have given up as well in fear of catching their son or one of their friends. So that leaves Tucker and me, both of us guilt-ridden.

Danny was my hero. Now, I'm going to become his.

Okay, not as expected, but okay…ish.
