Arthur stood behind the screen impatiently. Merlin was lost in his thoughts as he prepared Arthur ceremonial clothes.
"Merlin! Hurry up would you!"
Merlin snapped out of it and clumsily gathered up his master's clothes, stumbling in his haste over to the screen.
"Could you be any clumsier?" Questioned Arthur peering around the screen.
Merlin sighed heavily,
"I'm just anxious. Why would your father get married without telling anyone who he's marrying? What if it's another troll?" Babbled Merlin, as he tried express all his questions all in one go.
Arthur dressed quickly and acted as though he had never heard his servant.
The warlock paced. Arthur stopped him before he got into his bad habit.
"As long as he's happy, what does it matter?" Arthur stared into the servant's troubled blue eyes. He then grabbed Merlin's arm and dragged him down into the Great Hall.
Uther stood dressed smart. The Prince and servant took their positions. Merlin's eyes widened, he leaned over and whispered into Arthur's ear,
"Is he actually... Smiling!?"
This made Arthur bite back a grin, he knew he shouldn't find it humorous, but it was the way the boy said it that made it amusing.
Uther raised his hand for silence once everyone was gathered.
"Before we begin, I'd like to say a few words. This year has been difficult for me. My beautiful ward, Morgana has not been found. However the search will continue until we find her. But it was this magnificent woman who I'm marrying today that has given me, comfort and hope. I'm not the easiest man to live with, but this woman has stuck to my side, showing her loyalty and her dedication. She may not be of high ranking, but this does not matter to me because I love her. So without further ado, let the ceremonies begin!"
Everyone in the room clapped and chanted 'Long lived the King'. Except for Merlin who muttered,
"Tyrant."
Arthur elbowed Merlin sharply in the ribs. Merlin looked at him instantly, Arthur gave him a disapproving glare.
'Ooops' thought Merlin cheekily.
Geoffrey of Monmouth soon appeared to perform the handfastings ceremony. The bride arose drowned in cream silks and gold laces her face still hidden. Uther beamed brightly as he lifted the veil revealing Hunith.
Once the celebrations were in full swing Arthur and Merlin crept from the scene.
Arthur screwed up his face in disgust once they were well away from prying eyes.
"For once you were right Merlin, my father has married another troll." He stated cold and blatantly.
Merlin boiled with anger as he lashed at the uncouth Prince. Arthur dodged the blow and laughed.
"I'm winding you up. Although I have no strong feeling for their 'love'." Admitted Arthur.
Merlin relaxed, though frustrated that he had let Arthur get to him.
"I agree. Since this now makes your father, my father in law and me. Well your brother in law."
Arthur stared at Merlin, making him feel uncomfortable.
"Don't forget to sharpen my sword for tomorrow." Arthur ordered and headed off to his chambers, leaving Merlin to ponder on whether he was joking or not...

"I hope you enjoyed my random one shot. It was something I wanted to have a go at, there's no plot to it. But if I get enough alerts and reviews I will continue thus giving it a plot. But for now this is a one shot. Thanks.
