A.N. This is really short but I couldn't think of any way to lengthen it without compromising the story. This is my entry for the Mirror of Erised contest. Do I even have to tell you I don't own Harry Potter?

Hagrid was of course helping the cleanup effort. The place had been his home for many years and he couldn't wait to see it back to its former glory. It seemed unfair that he was still unable to use magic legally. He could have been more help if he would have been able to use it in the cleanup effort. At least as a half giant he could do a lot of heavy lifting.

As he was sifting through the rubble he noticed a large piece of gilded of metal. He picked it up and was surprised to see it was a large mirror. He vaguely remembered helping Dumbledore move it when the sorcerer's stone needed to be protected. He was remembering how small Harry had been. It didn't seem possible that he was the same person that had defeated he-who-must-not-be-named a few days ago.

Hagrid came back to reality when he heard a loud thud as some bricks were put into place by magic. He looked again at the large ornate mirror. He couldn't remember why he had put it down there. What function had this mirror served to protect the stone?

Being Hagrid he was curious about the mirror, so he stood it up and looked in it. The mirror barely fit his frame in the glass. It was unusual for a mirror to be able to fit him at all. He looked into the glass and inhaled sharply. Sitting behind him were his mother, Grawp, and his father.

A happy family at last. All of them sitting and smiling. Hagird noticed by his father there was a picnic basket. There was a blanket beneath the family. He had always wished to go on some sort of family outing. As a tear rolled down his rather large cheek he remembered what the mirror did. It showed his hearts deepest desire.

He should continue cleaning, he should continue with his work, but he needed something real. Hagrid left to look for the only piece of family he had left. He went to find his little brother.

A.N. I hoped you like it. Sorry again for the length.
