The wizarding world has suffered a great loss of numbers after the war with Voldemort. The Ministry is fearful for the sake of the future of witches and wizards, so they pass a Marriage Law. Whom will be matched with whom? Will they actually be compatible? Will relationships thrive or will they be put in the pool for a new match? Read and find out! Rated T for now, but may change.

The Daily Prophet owl that morning looked ruffled and exhausted. She had flown to every magical household in the greater wizarding community to deliver a paper, regardless of a subscription or not. The headline screamed out what was about to change the world forever. The Ministry was putting into effect a marriage law and it was to turn the world on its ear.

Dear Witch/Wizard,

As of the first of the month, the Ministry is putting into effect a Marriage Law. This law will require all single witches from the ages of 17-50 to be put into a pool and matched based on a variety of factors. Documented proof of relationship status and compatibility must be submitted by the end of this month in order to preserve your relationship.

Part of this law will require the consummation of the wedding within one week of the ceremony and one child must be conceived within six months of this consummation. The marriage will occur within the year, and last nothing short of six years and no less than four children within this time. If this provides to be a hardship for the couple based on monetary issues or fertility issues must be brought to the attention of the Department of Marriages immediately.

Letters indicating your new spouse will be owled to you by the second of next month. You have one week to meet with your intended and submit a letter with your wedding date to the Department. Any and all questions will be answered with the next owl, as more details will be provided.

This was sure to create some issues, but the wizarding world needed to do something. Numbers were down after the war, and the community was at the verge of dying out. And no one at the Ministry wanted to see the wizarding world die as a result of a mad man after his defeat. This was the only way to get people to create more witches and wizards in a timely manner and for bloodlines to thrive after many had been reduced to one or two members remaining. The only question left, whom would be matched with whom?
