'Arwen' he whispered softly.
She turned around to face him, her silver gown graciously floating around her. He took a few steps forward on the small bridge, never letting his eyes leave her face.
She was beautiful. Long black hair cascading on her back, leaving her pointy ears unveiled, her gracious facial features lighted by the moon. He had fallen in love with her when he had first seen her.
And now, he hated himself for what he was about to do. But he knew that he had no choice. They had no choice. She could not wait for him until after the war. The time of elves was ended. It was time for her to join her likes.
'What did you wanted to tell me, Aragorn?' she asked him of her melodious voice.
'Arwen', he took her hands in his 'Do not wait for me. I'm going to war, and who knows when will I come back? If I come back.'
'No' she said, her eyes shining of determination. 'I won't go. I want to stay here. I don't care what happens. I want to be by your side.'
'You must not let our love blind you, Arwen. This is no future for you, if you stay, you will be touched by Sauron's hate. I don't want to risk anything happening to you.'
She silenced him with a kiss. A soft, tender kiss.
'I do not want to leave you. I love you. I knew what I was getting involved into when I first found out my feelings. I could have backed up then. But I didn't. because no matter what happens, I want to be by your side.'
'Arwen', he said pleadingly. 'Please.'
'No, mighty warrior. I won't go.'
'This is no life for an immortal being, and you know it', he said, frustrated.
'Who said anything about immortal?' she asked him, and watched as his eyes filled in horror. 'No, Aragorn, I don't want to be immortal anymore. Because an immortal life without love is useless. I have learned this from you.'
Her hands left his and she undid the necklace around her neck. She took one of his hands in hers, and put the necklace safely in it, saying as she did so "I choose a mortal life."
Aragorn kissed her softly, putting his love and fear for her in it. He then looked into her eyes and said 'Be safe.'
Reluctantly, he turned his back to her walked to his horse. It was time for him to go to the war, and help Frodo win the One Battle.
