Chapter 1

It all started one day at school. It was a normal day, or at least until 5th hour. I was sitting with my best friend Mark failing my history test, as usual. There was a storm outside that made me nervous. I hate storms. Suddenly I heard a raspy voice whisper Alex, Alex I'm coming for you. It came from nowhere and everywhere at once. "Mark stop it," "Stop what?" I know who you are. I have your past, your present, and your future at my fingertips. Oh, the things I could do. Here I'll be nice and start you off easy.

"ALEX GET DOWN!" Roared a familiar voice as arrows poured though the windows and exploded or ricocheted around the room. A man about the size of a bull charged the windows and punched a hole in the wall. Then I realized he was a bull from the waist up. "Mark is that a Minota-" BOOM an arrow exploded right in front of Mark and he was tossed like a rag doll across the room. " You'll pay for that." I roared and charged toward the Minotaur.

Time slowed as I charged to my death. I felt empowered but tired at the same time. The shadows lengthened and formed a tunnel, and at the end was the Minotaur. I slammed into it and it turned into sand. I realized I had killed it, so naturally I did the heroic thing, and fainted.

I was running across a black plain the ground was sliding from under my feet. "Alex stop running; I don't mean you harm." The voice sounded comforting so I did as I was told. The ground dropped out from under me. I was falling; I finally landed in a dark black room. Before me stood a tall robed, hooded figure. " I have little time but when you wake you will be safe at camp. Now I have two gifts. One to make life worth living, the other to keep you alive to enjoy it." As he spoke a pure white sphere and a sword with a blade blacker than the shadows that surrounded us appeared in his hands. "Happy birthday my son."

"Mark!" I shot up and saw him next to me, dying I looked down and saw the sword and sphere in my hands. Then medics rushed in and surrounded him. "LET ME THROUGH!" I yelled as I fought my way through the crowd. When I finally got to him it was too late; he was dead.

"No, no, no, no, NO," it wasn't true, it couldn't be. Then I looked down with tears in my eyes and saw the sphere was glowing there was a flash of light. "Alex, What happened?" Mark my dead best friend wasn't dead anymore, in fact his wounds had healed before my very eyes.
