One day in the middle of summer, just off the coast of Neo Green Hill Zone, in Tails' lab, Sonic and Tails decided they'd try to kick back and relax. It had been several hours since the last foiling of an evil plot, set in motion by Dr. Robotnik - who, by the way, Sonic and friends refer to as Eggman due to his striking resemblance to that of an egg - and Sonic was already bored. "Okay, is it just me, or did Eggman seem a little weaker this time around?" Sonic asked, tossing a light blue emerald into the air repeatedly. Tails, who was tinkering on his airplane, the Tornado II, peeked his head out from under, and taking his goggles off, replied to Sonic. "Um... No? I could really tell he was trying his best to 'crush us' this time, too." "Really?" Sonic said questioningly, catching the emerald and setting it down next to him. "Well, maybe I'm getting stronger then." He said with a smirk. "That may be." Tails replied, putting back on his goggles and sliding back under the Tornado II.
After a brief silence, Sonic got up and started walking towards the door. "Alright, that's it. I'm going for a run! Catch ya later, Tails!" He said. Tails did not actually notice, although absentmindedly he replied to Sonic. "Sure, later." At this, Sonic waved to Tails as he opened the door and walked out into the open. The sun was shining, the cool wind was blowing, and the palm trees' leaves were waving. The soft, warm sand shifted beneath his shoes as he stretched, and he squinted, lifting his gloved left hand to shield his eyes from the sun's hot rays. Surveying the land laid out before him, he grinned. He loved wide-open places like this, there was basically no limit to where he could run. And so, comparable to a kid who just spotted a candy store across the street, he ran straight ahead excitedly. The wind, now, felt even better, coolly blowing between his quills as it whistled in his ears. Only looking ahead of him, he spotted a corkscrew bridge. His grin grew even wider as he sped up, until he hit the corkscrew. As he heard that oh-so-familiar 'woosh' of wind blew into his ears. He, personally, loved that sound. It gave him an idea of how fast he was going.
As he hit the end of the corkscrew, he chuckled and began to slow down, eventually coming to a stop. Glancing to his left, he saw the sun falling behind the blue waves of the ocean, palm trees dancing at the coast. Although he loved running a lot, some short moments like these were unforgettable to him. He walked towards the coast, eventually sitting down on the sand. Looking up at the burning orange sky, he laid down completely and crossed his legs, folding his hands behind his head. The soft, warm sand felt so good on his back after the cool wind, and as a result, Sonic began to feel drowsy. Yawning, Sonic's usually energetic demeanor was replaced with a calm, sleepy one. His eyes drifted closed, and he started snoring, now asleep on the beach...
