Many years after the kishin, Asura, had been defeated, Death City fell upon more distress. Death the Kid had just taken over his father's title when a new enemy appeared. A group of young humans had been secretly turning themselves into kishin, right under the Academy's noses. Now, we join our heroes in a war meeting.
"That's the stupidest idea I've ever heard!" Maka Albran screamed across the table, standing up.
"What, are you kidding me? It's brilliant!" Black Star roared right back, now on his feet as well.
The two continued 'debating'. Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, a Death Scythe, tried to intervene, tugging uselessly at her meister's arm. Soul Eater Evans, another Death Scythe, propped his feet up on the table, listening to the meister's argue with an amused look on his face. Patricia and Elizabeth Thompson, both Death Scythes as well as Death's current weapons, stood on either side of their meister, whom had his masked face resting against the table.
"Stop." The shinigami's simple command silenced the room immediately. "It's not as if this is the first challenge we've faced together. And we all have more power now." The rest of the council nodded in agreement.
Lord Death sat at the head of the large table with his weapons. Maka, Kilik Rung, Dr. Franken Stein, Black Star, and Ox Ford, each seated by their weapons, now all Death Scythes. Also included in the meeting were Blair, Masamune, and Excalibur.
"We will go with the plan Stein proposed." Lord Death silenced the about-to-argue Black Star with a sharp look. "Three teams. Maka and Black Star, Ox and Kilik, and Stein and Blair."
Stein was the first to speak up. "If we all leave, who will remain to protect the city?"
"Well, Lord Death will still be here, and Masamune and Excalibur as well. Plus, the E. A. T. class is advancing rapidly," Soul answered confidently, but Stein still looked uneasy.
Lord Death scanned the table. "Those assigned to the missing will leave tomorrow evening." Everyone nodded or mumbled agreement as the shinigami ended the meeting. Maka waited behind as the other meisters and their weapons, as well as the cat and the swordsman, took their leave.
"Kid…are you sure this is going to work? The E. A. T. kids are good, but…" Maka looked as nervous about the upcoming mission as Death felt. He kindly set a gloved hand on Maka's shoulder.
"Everything will be fine here. Blair put enchantments into place, and all of the traps have been tested. Nothing is getting into Shibusen."
Maka nodded, walking out, Soul at her side. As soon as she was out of sight, Death dropped back into his chair, removing his mask. He had dark rings around his eyes, he looked exhausted. The shinigami had spent many sleepless nights in a row preparing for this. Now it was time to wait and see.
