The sky burned, it wasn't the red of purity, it was the pained purple of chaos. Dark lightning crackled across the clouds, the thunder merging with the torturous roars of the creatures that roamed the land. Out of destiny or luck a bolt of pure magic lanced down, striking a cliff and shearing rocks from its side. As the rocks came to a rest it would become clear something was amiss, many were in the shape of humans, though much larger. One of them opened its eyes in shock at what had transpired. Its eyes the colour of the magic that birthed it.
What happened. Where am I. What am I. Who am I. The figure struggled with the new reality that it was now alone, a separate being, not one of the whole. It felt burning, like a scorching breath on the back of its neck, and the howls of foul creatures that brought pain to its ears. Neck? Ears? What are these things? The creature stood up and ran, hot sand crunching under its feet, ignoring all sense and thought it just ran, it ran until it could not feel their breath or hear their howls. It did not know what happened to the others. The creature collapsed, it was exhausted, its new legs could not take it further. Why did I run? Why did I not save them. The creature looked up and saw more of the lightning that birthed it, it could sense their power and knew then it was not alone for now. No. I could not save them. It was wise to run, to find others, to come back stronger. It suddenly tensed. Something was nearby. Did it mean harm. Was it scared. Both. It could tell whatever it was it was scared and wished pain, though not on it. It wanted to bring pain to those creatures.
Come out, I am not one of them. It said trying to soothe the fire that burned within it.
The other came out of hiding, it was the same but different to itself.
I know not who you are, it asked, though more as a statement, the first creature presumed it did not simply ask.
And I know not who you are strange one.
This world is strange now. It is not how it should be.
There are others like us, I can feel them, though I cannot see them.
I want their death, the first creature had grown bored of the conversation and continued to spit on the image of whatever those creatures were.
Would you like me to name you? The first creature asked.
A name is an identity, I have none beside fury, the other replied.
I shall name you Thrydon, when we return those beasts will fear that name.
'Thrydon' it wasn't a mind speak, it came from the others mouth, 'Thrydon.' Yes. Yes. They will fear this, that was mind speak. In return I name you Ethene. Shall you be known for counsel in these dark times.
'Ethene' the first creature struggled to make the words. I am Ethene.
Ethene knew she now had a purpose, to find to help and to take vengeance. Ethene looked at a nearby ledge and walked towards it, trying to see if it could find others.
