Summary: Her name was Serenity. Yet I warn you; Don't judge a book by its title.
Chapter 1; Serenity
Everyone in the Sheffield residence was warned a week in advance that Mr. Sheffield's cousin was coming to stay with us for a while. Apparently she's an amazing singer and found a great job right here. I'm already on edge to meet her. The only other person Mr. Sheffield has reprimanded so thoroughly in years is yours truly.
Well, with the exception of Miss Fine; but she was a Godsend and Divine Intervention doesn't count.
So at any rate, I was quite anxious to meet this cousin of his. She's apparently the odd one out; the only one good at expressing how she feels; the only one with passion; the only one the rest of the family thinks is crazy.
I for one am truly curious.
She was supposed to arrive Sunday afternoon. That morning at breakfast Mr. Sheffield was on edge to say the least.
"Did you remember to set up the guest room, Niles?" He questioned, his British accent even more prominent than normal, a dead give-away of his anxiety.
"For the twentieth time this week, Sir, yes." I responded flatly.
"I'm sorry Niles I just want everything to be right for her when she comes, I haven't seen her in ages. I'm just so nervous." He explained
"No! Really?! I never would have guessed!" I said sarcastically.
He rolled his eyes at me as Miss Fine waltzed into the room, shouting "Good Morning Everyone!"
"'Morning Darling," Mr. Sheffield greeted as she leaned down and kissed her fiancé.
"'Morning, Niles," She smiled as she took a plate and the server from my hands and proceeded to serve herself.
"Good Morning, Miss Fine," I smiled.
"Are you excited to meet Mistah Sheffield's cousin or what?!" She asked excitedly.
"I'm positively giddy with excitement," I assured her winking "She hasn't even arrived yet and she's already thoroughly frazzled Mr. Sheffield." I grinned and she laughed.
I smiled to myself wondering what this mystery girl was going to be like. Would she change the Sheffield household like Fran had? What a prospect.
