The Super Wonder Experience: Continuing Adventure
Connor paced back and forth on the balcony that overlooked the small park on the Watchtower. He was terrified, anxious and generally worried. As he walked back and forth, Megan watched him amused.
"Calm down Connor, it is not like you are about to fight Doomsday all by yourself." Megan said seeing Connor continue to pace, sweating but not from the effort of walking back and forth. She laughed slightly, ever since they had made amends recently, her, Connor and Cassandra. It has improved their friendship. It was better now.
"I think I would prefer to then have to do what I promised to do now." Connor said in near panic, he only had an hour to go. "Why is there not a mission, it is my only hope that mission would save me." Connor pleaded to the Fates hoping for some type of mission that would require him to postpone the inedible.
"Come on Connor it is not as bad as you are portraying." Megan stated as she watched the nervous Connor continue to pace.
"Yes, it is. You do not understand. I am afraid of her." Connor stopped and looked at the clock, and could have sworn it was running faster than normal.
"You faced down the Black Beetle and you are afraid of a normal human woman." Megan replied starting to shake her head back and forth, trying to stifle another laugh. Then saw Cassy approach.
"It is time to go." Cassy said as she walked up and saw Connor stare at the clock.
"No, I still have twenty minutes to live." Connor said as he pointed at the clock.
"Connor, you are not going to the gallows, we are just going to see my mother." Cassy said as she put her hands on her hips and glared at Connor. "Then tell her we are engaged."
"Same thing." Connor quietly said as he frowned. "Your mother hates me."
"She does not hate you, she just does not like you dating her daughter." Cassy replied as she saw Connor stared at her in shock and returned to pacing back and forth.
"Well doesn't that make everything right. How do you think she is going to take it that instead of just dating we tell her we are engaged to be married? She will kill me." Connor stopped pacing and as he looked at the two women he prayed for a mission to be announced. "Are you sure we can't tell her in two months?"
"Connor, we would be married for a over month then." Cassy stepped up to him taking his hand. "We can't do that to my mother."
"You two better get going, don't worry I will tell Batman and Kaldur that unless it is a drastic emergency not to contact you." Megan said smirking at the couple.
"Traitor." Connor mumbled as Cassy started to drag him towards the Zeta Tubes. Seeing Megan waving and smiling as they left.
After the Zeta Tube transported them to Gotham, Connor walked hand in hand with Cassy. He was hoping for anything to happen to delay him going to Helena Sandsmark House. An Invasion by the Reach, a minor earthquake that does not harm anyone or even some villain that wants to rule the earth. Anything at this point. When they reached the street that Helena lived on he began to think that nothing was going to save him from this. Grimacing he noticed that Cassy had a strong gripe on his hand so he could not dash away. As they approached the house, he saw Helena run outside and greet them.
"Welcome home Cassy." Helena said as she hugged her daughter then she looked at Connor. "Oh, hello Connor." She said without any emotion. "When you called you said you were coming for a visit, I did not think Connor was coming. Ah well come inside I do not need Mrs. Ganders to start gossiping." Taking Cassy's hand, she led her into the house, all the while Cassy remained holding Connor's hand so he could not slink away.
Inside Helena took Cassy over to a couch and sat still holding her hand. Connor had been released and he stood at the door. He had an overwhelming impulse to run out the door and not return. But he remained by the door, if he did leave it would hurt Cassy a lot.
"So, what brings you for such a delightful visit." Helena asked as she smiled at Cassy then frowned at Connor.
"Mother, you know that Connor and I have been dating each other for the last seven months." Cassy started to say and Helena winced visually on the couch.
"Yes, you told me on your last visit, one that Connor seemed to have some type of emergency that required him to leave after two hours here." Helena replied looking at Connor.
Connor had begged Artemis to call after two hours on the last visit stating that there was an emergency that required him to leave. Unfortunately, Cassy had told Artemis not to do it this time, so he was effectively trapped.
"Well mother, Connor has asked me to marry him and I accepted. We are engaged." Cassy said excitingly as Connor waited for the older Sandsmark woman to yell, complain that she was too young and tell her daughter she was not going to marry him.
"Well it is about time." Helena said with a smirk. "You two have been gaga over each other for the last seven months." Connor felt faint as he stared at Helena confused.
"I do not understand; how did you know. We tried to keep our relationship discreet." Connor stammered out as he stared at Helena.
"You two have been discreet as an earthquake. Do you think I am blind, on the last visit I watched the two of you stare at each other like simmering fools? Did you think I would protest who my daughter chooses, she is a smart independent young woman who is smart enough to make her own decisions." Helena stated as she glared at Connor.
"That are some of the reasons I love her so much." Connor replied as he found himself slowly walking over and sitting next to Cassy. She took his hand and beamed at him.
"So, when do you plan on marrying my daughter?" Helena asked as she saw Cassy lean onto Connor happily.
"Next month, it will be a double wedding. My brother wants to marry someone as well." Connor informed her as she frowned.
"Who is your brother?" Helena asked, she knew he was Superboy and she also knew that he was a Cadmus Clone. But beyond that she did not know much about the young man that was soon going to be her son-in-law.
Connor had already asked Clark if it was alright for him to tell Helena Sandsmark about him being Superman and he agreed reluctantly. "My brother is Superman, and he is also Clark Kent he is marrying Lois Lane."
Helena stared in shock as she considered what he had just told her. She could not believe it, she had read articles from the Daily Planet that Clark Kent had written and she considered him to be a gifted reporter. Then to learn that he was Superman, it almost made her speechless. Almost. "I have several questions that I need answering from you Connor. This is as good as a time as ever." Then she started to grill Connor on certain subjects.
Helena asked Connor, where they plan on living. He answered Metropolis. That bothered her only a little. Then she asked how he was going to support Cassy, not knowing that the Justice League does pay the hero's a stipend to supplement any income. Then she asked the most important question. Children. She was dismayed to learn that it might not be possible for Connor to have children. After all he was part Kyptonian and part human. Helena had wondered about Cassy being able to have children because of her mixed parenthood. She still would not mind having grandbabies though. She continued to ask questions well into the late afternoon and Connor felt like he was being interrogated by Batman. When the sun started to set Helena suggested dinner and stood to go into the kitchen.
"So far so good." Cassy said as she squeezed Connor's hand affectionately. Then leaned in to give him a little kiss.
"Is the Inquisition over or is she going to torture me next?" Connor asked as he thought about all the questions Helena had grilled him on.
"Naw, she might go and get the whips and chains but she does not use the Rack anymore." Cassy said jokingly as she chuckled at Connor who frowned. "Oh, lighten up. She only is asking because she cares."
"I still think she hates me." Connor replied as he looked towards the Kitchen.
"She may not like you, but I love you. Isn't that the important thing." Cassy said as she kissed him putting her tongue into his mouth twirling it around. Wrapping her arms around him, pulling him closer to her. Parting Connor smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
"I love you, too and you are right. That is the most important thing." Connor used his super hearing and when he heard Helena coming back he pulled out of Cassy's embrace. At first Cassy was slightly hurt, but as her mother came out of the kitchen she understood.
"After dinner, I suppose you want Connor to spend the night." Helena said seeing her daughter nod. "Fine, but no sex while you are here. I am not a prude and I realize that you two probably are sleeping together. But I would prefer that you do not have sex while you are here. I do not think I could take it." Helena ordered as she glared at Connor.
Connor just smiled, he did not have the nerve or guts to tell Helena that they had been sleeping together every night for the past five months. That only a couple of days ago, Cassy had moved in with him at his apartment.
After they ate and moved into the living room to basically wait a couple more hours for it to be late enough to go to bed. Connor let Cassy monopolize the conversation. She answered more of her mother's questions. While Connor replied with mostly yes or no answers. At ten o'clock Helena went up to bed, but before she went she reminded them that the walls were thin.
In Cassy's bedroom, Connor stared at the single twin bed. It was covered with a pink and light blue blanket and one-single pink laced pillow. Almost laughing he took off his pants and shirt. Standing over the bed with just his boxer shorts he frowned. It was going to be difficult to sleep in such a small bed. Looking over at Cassy she only wore a tight bra and panties. She smirked at him as he crawled into the bed. Swaying her hips, she moved to the edge of the bed.
"This is going to be interesting." Connor remarked as he held the blanket up so she could get in.
"If we wait about an hour for my mother to go to sleep we can fool around." Cassy stated as she put her head on his shoulder. Looking up at him with a seductive smile.
"Cassy your mother said for us not to have sex, I would prefer not to get caught." Connor said as he closed his eyes. One hour later he felt someone put her hand down inside his shorts.
