"Elsa, do you remember a promise that you made to me?"

Anna's voice came to her as Queen Elsa turned away from her stack of papers for a moment.

"A promise of what?" Elsa asked, smiling at her sister.

"A promise of being my best friend!" Anna explained with a laugh before she frowned. "Before you shut me out."

"Anna, I didn't want to hurt you with my powers," Elsa reminded her, a sense of guilt playing on her face.

"Elsa, if Mama and Papa had only known that love was the key, we would've been buddies for a long time," Anna muttered, putting a warm hand on Elsa's shoulder.

"Thanks but if I had known that love was the key back then I would've opened the door," Elsa muttered again as Anna spotted a bit of ice going on the walls.

"Love! Love!" Anna shouted, catching Elsa's attention.

"Sorry," Elsa apologized with a weak smile.

"Elsa, you feeling alright?"

"I'm just getting used to being your buddy again. Anna, it's been so long that I sort of forgot how. But it doesn't mean I forgot my promise to you."

"Thanks Elsa," Anna said with a smile. "To be honest, I thought that you did when you starting shutting me out."

"I would never break a promise when it comes to family! Especially when it comes to you!" Elsa retorted with a laugh.

"So why did you shut me out, Elsa? Tell me why!" Anna yelled, stopping Elsa in her tracks.

Elsa remembered that night. The playing, Olaf, Anna unconscious. It burned in her mind as tears began to flow.

"It was because I was scared!" Elsa sobbed, hugging herself. "I didn't want to hurt you again! You got the streak in your hair because of me!"

Anna blinked, not believing her eyes.

"But Mama and Papa," Anna began before quietly closing her mouth, knowing that Elsa needed her at the moment. "They lied to me, didn't they?"

"They did," Elsa muttered before giving Anna a hug for what seemed like the first time in forever. "But that's in the past."

"Thanks Elsa."

"You're welcome."

"So we're still buddies?" Anna asked with a smile.

"Not still buddies," Elsa smirked with a wave of her hand. "We were and still are buddies."

"Oh Elsa! You're one wonderful snow queen and big sister!"

"Queen? Yes. Sister? Not for over a decade, Anna."

"I know I know but let's think about this! You and me! We could build a snowman! Eat chocolate! Talk to the pictures on the walls!" Anna rambled, pulling Elsa from her work.

"Anna, I would love too!" Elsa laughed, softly taking her sisters arms from her waist. "But I gotta work."

"But you can take a break for awhile!" Anna argued, taking her hand. "Come on!"

"Anna! Slow down!" Elsa laughed, feeling herself being dragged as she hid a small smile.

It was grand to have her sister back after all those years of being separated and Elsa wouldn't trade it for anything else.
