Any mistakes are mine, and I apologize. Very short. Enjoy! :)
John Sheppard was a soldier through and through. The hero, the one saving people from the bad guy. Putting his life on the line for people he cared about.
John had thought about death before, in the early days of his career. Seeing friends and fellow soldiers dead and dying; their life whipped away by a bullet or an explosion. His own close calls burned in his memory. They served to fortify his own mortality and show how fragile life could be. But that never stopped him from flying to the rescue or fighting on the behalf of the defenseless.
Even in this galaxy, where the monsters could suck the life out of you with their hands, Death literally staring you in the face. Now he was the monster. He was one that would hurt people. He probably already had… people he cared about.
Elizabeth. She walked into the dark, alone, vulnerable. Her voice portrayed worry, and even fear. He could sense it. Why was she here? He was dangerous.
"If you won't, then kill me now.
"John."
"It's better for the both of us."
He wasn't sure if he was saying this to guilt Elizabeth into going back to the planet or if he really wanted her to end this nightmare for good.
That's what this was, a nightmare, something out of a horror movie. One in which the hero becomes the monster and kills everyone else. There could be no happy ending in this tale.
This might be the worst way to go; to feel control slipping through your fingers. He could hurt someone, and he wanted this to be over before that happened.
This monster, the bug, was taking over. He could feel the strings of lucidity snapping like old rubber bands.
John saw two ways out of this. Either they change him back, or they should eradicate the problem permanently.
Hope you enjoyed my little drabble.
Reviews, as always, are appreciated. :)
