I had a rough night. Enjoy my sadstuck. ;-;

You sigh as you walk. Dave might be right here with you, walking you home, but it's still raining and overall kind of gloomy.

The light turns green and, wanting to get home, you just start walking. You recall Dave saying something about your coat blending in in the dark, rainy morning as your feet splash in the thick layers of water drenching the street. Fuck Washington.

Your mind stops drifting the moment you hear the splash and screech of tires desperately attempting to stop sliding on the road. You can't help it - you freeze like a deer.

You hear Dave scream your name over the rain, and everything seems to slow down. You're pushed out of the road with pure force of will, hands on your back. Suddenly everything returns to normal speed, and there's a thunk-snap-crunch as you feel the back of the truck whiz past you.

You whip around to see it stopped in the center of the intersection, half-sideways.

Your slow mind manages to wonder what happened to Dave before your eyes dip downward and spot the smeared streak of blood on the wet pavement, and in the middle of it his broken, bleeding body.

"Dave!" You cry out, rushing over and dropping to your knees next to him. No, this... this can't be happening.

His shades were knocked off on impact, and his beautiful crimson eyes stare blankly for a moment before zeroing in on you, and only you. You're the only thing that matters.

Despite the gut-wrenching snaps and squishing, sucking noises, he's obviously too far gone to notice the pain, or if he does he doesn't care. Amazingly, he props himself up on one wobbly arm.

The agony shows clearly in his eyes, but he manages to smile at you - just a little bit. He reaches out, shaking fingers trailing down your cheek for a moment before resting on your shoulder.

"I-I love you…" His hoarse voice shakes more than his hands, but it makes you blush nonetheless. You place your hand over his carefully.

Apparently that was what he was looking for, because he smiles a little more before his form suddenly crumples with a wet crunching snap and you watch as the light fades from his eyes.

You don't care, you let the tears flow down your face with the rain. You clutch at his hand, the pulse ebbing beneath your fingers, as you slowly fall into shock at how quickly you lost him.

"I love you, too…" You murmur, for the first and last time.
