"Please tell us a story, Gramma! Please?" begged Tommy.
"We'll be very quiet and never interrupt!" pleaded Kate, fixing Tommy with a warning look, as if to say, 'You'd better!'
"Well, alright, but on two conditions. One, if you interrupt, you go to bed. Two, if your mother calls you, you must rush to her and do what she asks without hesitation."
The children nodded vigorously, and Gramma continued.
"Well then, let us begin."
