"Look a Blibbering Humdinger!" Ginny tore her eyes from Harry as she turned to see what Luna was pointing to. As usual, Ginny saw nothing but as she turned back to look at Harry where he sat a little ways down the table, she realized he was gone. She looked around, but Ron and Hermione seemed to have disappeared as well. Ginny frowned.
"I think I'm gonna go rest. I'm not very hungry," Ginny told Mrs. Weasley, and she left the Great Hall. Outside in the Entrance Hall, a few Ministry officials were poking around, looking at the damage and making notes. The corridor was now completely empty since everyone was either eating the feast or in the Hospital wing. Ginny looked around. There was no sign of Harry or the other two. They must be under the cloak, she thought. She turned in the direction of the longest route to Gryffindor Tower. She was sure Harry had gone someplace else, but he would probably go to the common room afterwards. If she took the long way, she'd have less time to wait.
As she walked, she saw all of the damage: burn marks, crumbled stone, holes in ways, doors barely hanging hanging from their hinges, slashed painting, broken windows. The castle was a wreck. Ginny felt fresh tears burn in her eyes. She wasn't sure what they were even for. The castle? Harry? Fred? The others who had fought? Remus and Tonks? Colin Creevey?" She sighed. She was emotionally and physically exhausted. And Fred...Fred was gone...she let out a little sob at the realization. The image of Harry's lifeless body flashed through her mind too and before she could stop herself, she had dropped against the wall, not even half way to the Gryffindor common room, sobbing.
She didn't know how long she was there for– seconds, minutes, hours? But she gave a little squeak in surprise as a gentle hand landed on her knee. She looked up and found her eyes staring into a bright green pair. She started sobbing again. The thought that she had almost lost those beautiful eyes forever was too much. She felt Harry sit down against the wall beside her. He pulled her close to him and she relaxed into him. He smelled like burned skin and fabric, sweat, blood, and dirt, but Ginny didn't care. He could smell like that forever as long as he was still there. After what seemed like forever to Ginny, her sobs and tears subsided enough for her to look up at Harry again. She was minorly shocked to see tears running down his cheeks too. She reached up and brushed them away, taking a deep breath. She smiled at him. "You're still here."
Understanding what she meant, Harry smiled back at her and kissed her cheek. "I could never leave you."
