Disclaimer: I only own Alex's descendant, Abigail Collins, I do not own Power Rangers SPD.
Here's another one shot since I taken down the Ninja Storm story, because...I don't like how that one came out, so...I hope you guys would enjoy this one. :)
Abigail's Ancestor
Normal POV
Abigail Jennifer Collins. Abby or Abs for short, or while working, Collins to fellow cadets she's working with, never thought that on the day she gotten herself locked up in a cell, thanks to her stupid stoic blue teammate, would see her foster dad again. Let alone in the academy where Sky and Jack were in the same room after she called the Commander...
"Hi, Dad." She waves awkwardly, causing the two rangers look up at the humanoid blue dog, hearing him growl softly that day.
It's been five years since she left home, left him since he was never around, which she understands that he's the Commander of Earth SPD Academy, home of Power Rangers SPD and protectors of the planet from the evil of Grumm.
But, now, she's a Power Ranger herself, has great friends, minus Sky since she hates him for locking her up and yeah, there are days when she's in the same room with the Commander, the duo are feeling the air awkward as it is. Especially with the team nearby.
Right now, she's in her room, working on her studies for her classes when she hears the door opened and a knock.
"Yeah?" She look over and frowns at the sight. "What do you want?"
"Commander is looking for you," Sky tell her. "Don't ask why he sent me to come get you, so come on." She rolled her gray eyes, then went with her blue teammate to meet up with the Commander.
Since the first day, she couldn't stand him. From the moment she heard about the rivalry going on between him and Jack, she thought it's really stupid, at first. She also learned the real truth, Sky wanted to become the Red Ranger, because he wanted to follow his dad's footsteps before he died.
Which, it hit her right in the heart, she felt terrible for being so mean to him, but she has every rights to be mean to her blue teammate. Not only he locked her up, Cruger made the duo to be partners, even with or without the team's help and Jack agreed to it.
Her new best friend agreed with her foster father with the idea! Of course the duo were against it and arguing with Jack about it, but Jack bought up a good point that the duo should suck it up and learn to work together, if not, she and Sky are going to face either desk duty or cleaning duty. But, since Abigail has classes, Cruger can ask her teachers to give her extra homework, which she doesn't want that.
Speaking of her foster humanoid dog father, she and Sky came in when he look up at them, giving him the salute across their chests.
"You wanted to see me, sir?" Abigail asked him, clasping her hands together on her back.
"I have a small mission to give you, Cadet Collins." He said. "You've been mentioning that you want to learn more about your past, is that correct?"
"Yes, sir," Abigail said, watching her foster dad looking over to Dr. Kat Manx, seeing her nodded her head and giving the young purple clad cadet a blue folder as she takes it. "What's this?"
"Your research." Kat said when Abigail opens it and saw a list of names of her family.
"I want you to spend the next few hours to learn more about yourself," Hearing her Commander. "I'm sure there's something interesting you're going to like about your ancestor."
And that's what she did. She's outside in the training area with a tablet in her hands, reading about her family she thought she never knew before. She grew up in the orphanage till fifteen years old, when she actually ran away from the house and then, been in the streets for a few days till she came across a mugging going on with two human boys, picking on a young humanoid alien girl for taking her bag.
Of course, Abigail jumps in and defended the girl from the two bullies. But, they were bigger and much stronger than her petite size. With her karate skills she been training, it made her look really bad. She even remembers the busted lip she had till Cruger came in and defended her. And you know the rest of the story since living with the Commander only lasted six months.
"Anything yet?" She heard a voice when she look up and saw Z came in as she sat down next to her, handing her friend a water bottle.
"It started off with my eight times great uncle," Abigail said as she takes the bottle and shows Z the tablet.
On screen was a young man, who appeared no late than thirty five years old, short styled brown hair underneath the red hat he was wearing, with bright grayish-blue eyes and had a bright grin on his face.
"This is Wesley Collins, he was my ancestor's older brother," She said, then she slides to the left to see another picture, of a young woman who look like...
"Abs, she look like you," Z said, looking up at her friend wide eyed.
"This is Alexandra," Abigail answered.
The only difference between her and her ancestor are the hair color. Alexandra had dirty-blondish dark brown hair on shoulder length while Abigail has completely dark brown and longer enough to make it into a braid she wanted. Everything else are the same, gray eyes, same light olive skin tone and heart shaped face.
"What's funny about this, is that," Abigail look up at Z. "Alexandra and Wesley were Power Rangers before. Wesley was in the Time Force Power Rangers and Alexandra followed his footsteps by becoming not one, but four different teams." The two look back on the tablet and Abigail shows couple pictures of Alex being with her teammates.
One is with the Dino Thunder, standing close to a tall red clad boy since he had his arms around her shoulders since the duo look like they could be actual siblings, the second one is with the Mystic Force with Alex having her right elbow on another red clad's shoulder, the third one is with the Jungle Fury. Alex went from teal clad to pink clad ranger and with the Jungle Fury team, she was kneeling down in the middle with a yellow clad girl following in pursuit and lastly, the Samurai Rangers.
From Teal to Pink and now, Alex became a white clad ranger, with another red clad next to her, more like hugging her from behind since he had his arms around her waist, seeing the duo looking so happy and smiling at the camera with their teammates around them.
"Is that why you gave me this mission? You knew about her, did you, Dad?"
It was the end of the day and the base had quiet down while Abigail and Cruger are walking down the hall.
"Of course, I did," He confessed. "From the moment you told me your last name that first day, I had Dr. Manx to do a little research about your family's history till today." His brown gaze met her own. "Since it is, after all, your twenty first birthday, right?" Abigail's eyebrows went up. She complete forgot about her own birthday.
"But, why now? Why didn't you tell me when you took me in?"
"You left, remember?" Which, it hit her right in the heart again. "I was planning to tell you about it on your sixteenth birthday, but you were already gone." She even remembers that night was also her birthday and forgot about it. She really needs to stop forgetting about her birthday for the last five years.
"About that..." Cruger chuckles, then place his hand on her head, making her grin a bit. "I'm really glad you took me in, though. Even you were busy being here, I was actually glad to have a wonderful father like you, Cruger. Thank you."
Cruger was a bit of surprise, because Abigail gave him a hug, which he never had one before. Before what happened to his wife in his home planet. He felt a little awkward, but grins a little and hug his human daughter back.
"It was my pleasure, Abby," He said, then the duo continue walking.
Once Abigail returns to her room, she went over to her bed and kneels down to reach something underneath. It was a box of photo as she sat down on the floor and opens it. Inside are all the information she been collecting from the moment she started researching about herself. The research Dr. Manx are exactly what Abigail been missing.
Not only that, she even have a photo of her ancestor being married to her fellow Samurai Ranger and has kids of their own, which the tradition of being rangers are still going, with herself being a Purple SPD Ranger.
She smiled, then put the photo and the folder inside, then put the box back where it was.
"Hey." She look up at her door and saw Sky.
"Hey." She greeted, motioning him to come in and watch him sat down next to her. Seeing him holding a clear bag of cran-raisins, giving her some. "Thanks."
"So, what did you learn about your ancestor?" The blue cadet asked, taking some raisins into his mouth. She shrugs.
"Nothing interesting," She said while chewing. "The only thing is that, she was a lot like me. Goofball, optimistic, wild, nice, brave-"
"Okay, I get the idea," Sky said. "Is that all?" Abigail look up at him.
"What's it to you?" She asked him with a brow raised. He shrugs.
"Just curious."
"Schuyler Tate is curious? Really?" And there she goes, Sky hates it that Abigail teases him about anything he's curious about. "Hold the presses, Cadet Tate, the Blue Ranger is curious, folks!" What the duo doesn't know is that the Commander is over by the door, watching them goofing around with a grin on his face.
"Like her descendant, like her ancestor." He chuckles after he turned to leave.
Ugh! I hate how it came out! Not what I wanted! Ugh! Oh, well, I might do a full on version. We'll see. :)
