Terri sighed after glancing at the clock. It was five o'clock in the evening.
It was like any other day at Sheets 'n' Things; she stayed back until everyone had left and slowly tidied the store. No one bothered to help, but she didn't mind. She kind of liked this quiet time. It was nearly the only time in her busy day when she could think.
That day was different, though. Just as Terri was about to lock up for the day, someone came rushing in. Her skirt flew around as she raced in.
"Lock the doors!" Following their orders, Terri immediately locked the door, looking up to see who it was. She was utterly shocked to see who it was.
Black-haired cheerleader Santana Lopez stood there, tears streaming down her cheeks and her body shaking.
Terri rushed over to Santana, still shocked at what she was seeing. She was unsure what to say, but tried to find some reassuring words to help Santana.
"Are you okay?" Terri asked. She guessed it was a start. Santana just stood there, a shocked look on her face. It felt like an eternity before a sound apart from panting escaped Santana's mouth.
"I... I need to talk to someone... I can't talk to my parents... they'll think it's my fault... and Ms Pillsbury... she's just kind of weird." She was still Santana, Terri could tell that much. "You're the only other person I could think of... and your shop was here... near where I was... so it was kind of easy to get to." Santana's words came out in small sections.
"What is it?" Terri asked, her face stricken with concern.
"Some guy... he was chasing me down the street. I thought... he was just another old guy... but then... then... he pulled out a... knife." Santana swallowed hard and Terri's mouth fell open. "He started... threatening me... and he's been... standing outside my house... for the past few weeks... on and off. I just don't know what to do."
Terri was shocked, but pulled Santana into a hug. Santana was shaking hard and started to sob into Terri's shirt. They stood there like that for a while, until someone knocked on the glass doors to the shop.
To be continued...
