Kiss Me
Luna was skipping throughout the now, nearly empty castle looking for the last few items on her list that had disappeared throughout the year. The only things she had left to find were her shoes, (a pair of pink high top Converse with purple polka dots,) and a few issues of "The Quibbler" that had gone missing from her trunk last week. She was running out of time to look, though. The kids were leaving for the train station soon. Luna looked around for a friend to help her search. She opened her mouth to ask Ravenclaw Quiddich player, Cho Chang, for help, but when the black haired girl saw who called her name, she quickly turned around, and ran the opposite direction.
Neville shut the door to the sixth year dormitories and franticly searched for his toad, Trevor. "Come on, not this again! Trevor, where are you?" The boy asked, throwing his sheets on the floor. He undid the latch on his trunk, praying he would be there, but, nothing. "Damn!" he exclaimed, running a hand through his hair. Neville looked at his watch, and saw that it was almost time to go. 'I'll just send Dumbledore a letter asking if he sees him to just send him back.' he thought, and left the room with his things.
Luna was about to give up, when she saw one of the issues of "The Quibbler" blow passed, and out to the Quiddich Pitch. The blonde haired girl ran after the paper. She jumped, and caught it, right before it blew into the stands, and saw tied at the top of the highest goal post, her shoes. "Accio shoes!" Luna said in her dreamy voice…. Nothing happened. "Accio shoes!" she said, this time a little more firm….. Again, nothing.
"Accio shoes!" Neville heard someone call off in the distance. 'Who else would still be here this late in the day?' he thought.
"Accio shoes!" they said a little louder. Neville knew that voice, he'd heard it all year in the D.A. meetings, he smiled every time it said his name, he dreamt about that voice all last year. It was Luna's. he smiled instantly, and ran until her dreamy voice got louder, and he was out of breath.
Luna smiled as her visitor. She knew whom it was almost instantly, and her heart leapt. "Hello, Neville!" she said, not turning to face him.
"Luna…. What ar- are you…. Still doing here?" Neville asked breathless.
"Trying to find the rest of my belongings." she said in her dreamy voice. "The last thing on my list are my shoes," she said pointing up to the ring. "But, they're not wanting to come down."
"Did you try the Summoning Charm?" Neville asked knowingly. Luna nodded, and held her wand lazily,
"Accio shoes!" she tried again. Neville noticed that for one, she wasn't holding her wand the right way, and called her out on it.
"You're holding your wand to loose." he told her. He walked the rest of the way over to her, and took her wand hand in his. Both of their hearts started pounding in their chests, but they hid it well. Neville swallowed hard.
"You…. You uh…Need to grip it tighter….. Like this," he said as he squeezed her hand tight around her wand. "You also need to focus on the desired object, and that alone."
Luna closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and kissed Neville lightly on the lips. He blinked, and pulled his face away from hers quickly.
"Wh- What… What in the name of Merlin's saggy left Y front was THAT for?" he stammered.
"You said focus on the desired object and that alone. So, that's what I did." Luna shrugged.
"Oh…." said Neville, turning pink.
Luna tried the summoning charm once again, and her shoes were in her hands in a second.
"Thank you, Neville." she smiled her dreamy smile, and skipped away, her light blonde hair flowing out behind her as she went.
