It was a chance encounter of old friends – all of the "how-are-yous" forgotten as Raven thought of what she had wanted to say for years.

Star, it's been forever! I wish I had the time, but you know how these things happen – and then it's a year, and another and another – it's been decades. It's hard for me, living where we do – and we're both so busy with our jobs…

I work at this university now – it's such a pretty place, but nothing like Jump City. Just a peaceful little suburb. Of course Gar insists on keeping all of these odd pets – we have a three-legged dog and a blind cat and a deaf cat and a lizard – well, the lizard's really our daughter's, but still…

Oh, my kids are all right. Three teenagers are a lot to handle – but I did have to live with you guys for so long, that I can stand it. Gar is so good with them – he reminds me to be more patient.

I love my life now, but of course I miss it sometimes. Just five heroes, one city, and every dumb thief in a mask we could catch. Heroing and going to the mall and girls' nights – I'm glad it was you I grew up with, Star.

I shouldn't have yelled at you that time; you really didn't deserve it, and I did so little to make things better between us. It could have made such a difference…

But all that she said was a quiet "oh."

She had forgotten that Starfire was buried in this city.
