I do not own Kingdom hearts, any of the characters, or ideas that went into making the game.
Even though I wish I did.

The sky opened roared with thunder and lightning lighted up the face of the clouds above, a violent storm approached the town. The wind shrieked through the streets of the city of eternal night, heralding the chaos that was fast approaching. Few would go out and watch the cold rain beet down on the street, almost as if it wanted to bring the earth below to ruin.
But I did.
The darkness and I were once old adversaries, the wind was music to lead my battle, the thunder was the voice strength to persevere through any situation, the rain was my justification to cleanse the world, and the lightning was my will to cut through shadows with my blade. Fast efficient, quick and precise.
And then I fell.
That world of light which I had longed to protect, fell out of my grasp in that one moment. That one moment where just before I faded, I saw my heart in the hands of the creature before me. A being of shadow created by humans greed, jealousy, anger, joy, laughter, sorrow, tears. It was a being ruled by it's wants, and I was to become it. For the briefest of moments I felt the darkness in my heart explode out of me, everything I desired was held out before me, shown to my face as I started to fade.
Then I felt nothing. Physical senses I could see, touch, and hear everything. But no emotion, just vague memories of it and what it was. I didn't actually feel any of it. It was, for want of a better word (oh, how I long to say peaceful, but that wouldn't be quite right) interesting. I awoke on a world covered in desert, where drinkable water was few and far between. I don't quite know how I got there, but here I was, no longer in Traverse Town, but in some world where I was far from comfortable.
A voice rang out behind me. Gruff and strong, I turned and saw a man wearing a black cloak. I remember idily wondering how he could wear that here. He said to me "So you're the new one."
"New what?" I asked cautiously, my mind marveled for a moment on how different my voice was than before, more musical and light. I tried to see his face, but I couldn't while he had his hood up.
"The new Nobody. Have you got a name?" as he asked that question I realized I didn't. I knew I had one, but I didn't know what it was. I wasn't distressed, after all I couldn't feel, but I was slightly confused. So instead of answering his question straight away I ask instead.
"What do you mean 'Nobody?'" The man chuckled and lowered his hood so I could get a better look at him. He had a long ponytail with four evenly spaced white lines starting from the top of the forehead and sweeping back along his pony tail. However his most noticeable feature is the fact that he only has one eye.
"Looks like I've got some explaining to do kid." He stepped forward and raised his hand "Name's Xigbar, also known as the 'Free Shooter.'"
I look down at his hand and back at him. Slowly I raised my hand and grasped his. I didn't know what I was getting into here, and I wouldn't for a long while. I picked my name on the spot. It just seemed right for some reason as I grasped this strangers' hand.
"Hello Xigbar, my name is Demyx."

A decidedly more serious fanficlet than I've done in the past. I'm kinda proud of that actually.
