Benjamin Barker...
Sweeney Todd...
I loved both of you... truly truly did. Never once did my love falter. My marriage was simply out of circumstance but never out of love. Oh, how I dreamed of marrying you. With Toby, we would have been a real family. I haven't had a real family in such a long time. I suppose it was horrible of me to not tell you your dear Lucy lived. But I could not bring myself to. When you thought she was dead, I felt I had a chance, a rather good one at that. Maybe if you had known, you wouldn't have killed her. You wouldn't have killed me and Toby wouldn't have killed you. I hope you don't blame the boy. He simply did it out of a promise he made to me... one he knows he failed to keep. I missed the sweet and gentle Benjamin Barker, an honest man who did an honest days work and was sent away for nothing. Nothing but his foolishness. Sweeney Todd, the man who once was Benjamin Barker, I still love you. I can't help but love you despite your murdering ways. Those ways of yours helped my shop after all, so I can't hate it.
After all, love is eternal. My love for you and your love for Lucy.
Yours,
Nellie Lovett
