As the waves lapped at the hull of the ship I stairedinto the horizon. As I waited for the rest of the crew I couldn't help but analyze my situation. I who was a nobody, a humble peasant, now the personal bodyguard to royalty! It's been this way for 3 years. I should be use to it by now, but I'm not. Some times it still feels so unreal. It's not all good, but I feel as though I fulfilling some great purpose! But what do I know, I'm just a soldier. noting more, nothing less.
the next to wake up is always the prince. he refuses to get anymore sleep than he needs which makes him cranky, of course he's cranky to begin with ... So the lack of extra sleep doesn't really help. The constant lack of a smile on his face is something I blame on genes! I swear the Closest thing I've seen on these people's faces are a sadistic smirk that could give the devil chills! The Only exception to the rule I've seen so far is the prince's uncle. Long ago he was the fiercest general in the fire nation's history! Now he's just a fat jovial 65 year old man who like to eat & play pei-chow all day, & yet he's the strongest master I've ever known! speak of the devil, the general is the next one up, which is odd seeing as he usually likes to sleep in. Oh well! I stay at the bow a little longer till the rest of the crew is up & working.
Once that's been accomplished I move on to my daily routine, checking to see if the rest of the ship is secure, the soldiers are aware, & the perimeter is clear. once that's done I take a little break & at around noon me and the prince run are daily drills, so that we're always in practice.
After that's done at around 2 in the after noon we sit down for lunch. It is now the prince staring out into the horizon while I play solitaire with the general, & suddenly a bright white pillar of light shoots right into the sky passed the clouds! The prince says that we need too 'head towards it' but the general says its just the celestial lights! I disagree, but the prince being the kind of guy he is I don't even need to say anything & so we head for the light. I feel as though fate has suddenly moved in our favor & I can't help but ask "think well find him this time Prince Zuko!? " He just keeps gazing forward. I'm not entirely sure he heard and is ignoring me or if he's so focused that he didn't. in response I just said "cool " & sit snack down. Yup, lady fate is definitely in our court now! I could just feel it!
