**A/N: I do not own FFVII or any of it's characters. I'm just a little obsessed. Hope you enjoy! :-)**

He was so clueless.

I struggled to keep my face emotionless.

"Why are you lying?"

"What?" my voice, on the other hand, betrayed my flawless poker face as it broke on the only word I said.

"Your eyes get larger when you're lying."

"I'm not." I said, barely audible.

"When do you think I'm buying into this?" And with a trembling lower lip, I fought tears and stood. With a trembling hand, I out my bag over my shoulder. and with less than stable legs, I walked away.

He was so predictable.

I still held back tears as he came around the corner, finding me as I knew he would. I looked at him, trying to keep composed and battle against eye contact.

"Why are you ignoring me?" Keep in mind, this isn't typical Vincent Valentine. This is absolutely IRATE Mr. Valentine. I answered his question with a hard to obtain level stare.

"Do you think I believe you?" A sudden obession with my grey hightops blossomed inside me.

"Don't ignore me, Yuffie." He said sternly, turning my face. For a moment, he sounded like Father.

"I wouldn't lie about that." And I did the only thing I could think of -- walk away.

He was so beautiful.

I thought about him as I opened my eyes late one night almost six years later. Smaller versions of he and I padded down the hall, sniffling softly. As they climb into the bed on his side of the otherwise empty bed, one of them asks where Father is. I place my hand to his heart.

"Right there." I almost whisper, gazing into crimson eyes, not at all unlike his father's. Fighting tears, just as every night for almost six years now, I send them back to their own beds with a kiss on the forehead for each.

As soon as I hear the wood of their door touch the doorframe, a drop of saltwater hits my pillow, signaling another of many sleepless nights.

I would never forget him.

I finally found sleep six years later. When it came, it brought dreams of him. I told him how much the children he never knew resembled him. I told him how much they missed him just as I missed him every day.

"When are you coming back, Vincent?" His face softened and a hint of sadness touched his eyes as a bitter smile graced his flawless lips. I wondered what that meant.

"I will not," he said softly, sending a bitter shock down my spine. Seeing my expression, he touched my lips with his cautiously. He told me goodbye."Do not lose anymore sleep over me, Yuffie."

...End...
