Of Treasure Warriors and Undersea Love

Chapter 1
Under the sea, there lived a mermaid whose name was Mai. She was magnificent with soft, flowing blonde hair, eyes like violet amethysts and a tail of orchid-colored scales. She wore a midriff baring top of pale pink that stopped just below her chest and had ruffles adorning the bottom.
In her childhood, Mai was left orphaned when her parents were attacked by a great white shark. Her father ended up being digested in the bowels of the shark's stomach, but it was her mother that had to suffer.
Seeing her beloved husband dead and being devoured by the shark, Mai's mother wept tears of the purest love and the purest heartbreak. The shark charged her and left a gaping wound in her arm that spewed numerous quarts of blood. Smelling this, the shark went into a feeding frenzy.
Mai's mother lay dead on the ocean floor for only a few moments, only to meet the same fate as her beloved husband.
However, it is not here that the story shall be started. We'll start with Mai ten years from now, when she is an eighteen year-old teenager.
