Innocence
Mayuka is going to be a real heartbreaker when she grows up. Until then she sleeps the sleep of an innocent and Ryoko wouldn't have it any other way.
Mayuka's days of being used as living weapon are long gone. Peaceful days await her with only the occasional intergalactic threat to mar them.
Ryoko envies her. Mayuka's newly won innocence and second chance at a new beginning are both things that she will never know first hand. Forever her dreams will be colored in black death. Forever screams of the innocent will be her alarm clock.
That's why ryoko used to sleep in Tenchi's room, to stave off the nightmares- both his and hers. And now she stands over Mayuka's crib and protects her against any nightmares that may haunt her. Even if it wins her only Tenchi's ire or Ayeka's snide remarks she refuses to give up her post.
Ryoko vows to protect Mayuka's innocence, like no one protected hers, until the day she dies.
