Blood
Catherine Willows, CSI level 3, specialist- blood splatter analysis.
You get odd looks when you tell people your occupation. They give you the once over and scrunch their face in puzzlement. They can't understand how someone who looks the way you do would be within ten yards of any kind of bodily fluid.
But they don't understand that after a lifetime of lies, falsehoods and agendas, blood is the only reliable thing you have ever known.
Grissom has his bugs you have your blood.
Blood is truth and truth is blood, the two are interchangeable. It does not lie. It can not lie. It is more obstinate than evidence, more revealing than a young girl's diary. And you can not escape it. It flows through your veins. It splatters on the walls and carpets in patterns and drops.
Complex life altering questions are answered by something so deceptively simple. From it you can tell how a person lived, how a person died or who they are related to.
In multiple homicides you follow the blood trail like breadcrumbs. Deciphering it reveals the order of death maybe even the motivation behind the killing.
It is more reliable than a hundred eye witnesses.
Blood and truth are one and the same. It runs through your veins and lies on your hands. Both the blood you spilled when you killed Syd Goggle and the blood your father spilled in acquiring his millions. And no matter much bleach you use or how hard you scrub, the truth, cold and red can not be washed away.
The end
