Lonely Travels

The One Whom Betrayed His Race

This must be hell.. Heian thought to himself. I belong nowhere.. shunned by Humans and Elves.. This sucks. Heian walked through the streets of Eramasta a large town in the center of the continent. Heian is a 22-year old half-elf (22 years old meaning 18 in human years.) meaning a human and elf mated creating him. He had a Human father, and, an elven mother. So he mostly took after his arrogant father. He had deep blue eyes and shoulder length brown hair that covered his eyes and ears most of the time. It must be something in the atmosphere that gives off that he was different. He walked down the snow filled streets in the courtyard. It was in the middle of winter, the time when it was coldest in Eramasta. The breeze blew back his hair revealing his eyes and ears, he covered up quickly with the hood of his cloak so he would cause any more attention to himself. He had recently run from his elven home after they made him leave because he was an outsider.

Heian walked into the Inn that was filled with laughter and noise. No one noticed him walk in they all went about their business. He sat at the bar and looked at the bartender. A very pretty elven woman with sparkling green eyes and brown hair all the way to her waist. The moment she turned to him she realized what he was, to elves he looked more elven but had human traits, and to humans, he had more human traits but some elven ones. Her face turned to disgust and walked up to him quickly. "What do you want.." she said roughly to him. "Just some chicken, potatoes and some ale." Heian said just as roughly, his fathers arrogance kicking. He checked his pouch and should have had enough money. "That's gonna be 20 gold pieces." She said. "WHAT! That's way more than your supposed to charge!" Heian stood up pissed.

His cloaks hood had fallen at this point. His ears were exposed and his eyes shining brightly with the light in the room. "Don't care.. you want food you pay for it." She stuck out her hand to take the gold from him. "You get nothing until I get normal price, just because I'm half-elf doesn't mean I should be treated completely different! Now give me a fair price!" Heian was trying to intimidate her and it seemed to work by the look of surprise and fear on her gentle face. "Fine.. 10 gold that's as low as I'm going." Her hand was shaking when she was going to take the gold. Heian calmly went to take the gold but realized his pouch was gone. He saw some man near him smirking like a rogue. Heian saw his pouch by the mans side and quickly grabbed it. The man stood up and yelled. "He stole my pouch!" no one listened to the mans cry they were all to busy in their own stuff. Heian was in no mood. He just handed 10 gold to the bartender. He sat down and drank his ale that was already waiting for him. The man grunted and just left the bar. Five hours and many ales later, Heian had passed out on the bar. No one moved him and Heian hid his pouch very carefully. He was dreaming deeply, and was awoken another two hours later by the bartender who told him to buy a room or leave.

Heian had paid for a commoners room that night which cost him another 20 gold. He awoke with a major headache but it soon disappeared. He walked outside and went to a weapon smith. He needed some weapons for whenever he needed to leave. He ordered a long sword, a short sword, and a mighty composite bow. This cost him a total of 800 gold, he started to wonder where he had gotten all this gold from. The weapon smith was done in five hours and was very proud of his work. Another blizzard rolled in that day and Heian once again stayed in the commoners room after another night of drinking and eating. Things tomorrow were going to be difficult.
