Disclaimer: If I owned, I would like to think that we'd have the next book by now.
AN: This one was partially inspired by a review left by the writer HermioneGrangerJr and by a recent re-reading of Undercover Magic. This is set in the same book, with a slight alternative of chapter 21. The words in italics are directly lifted from the book.
Sophie looked down at her friend, cradled in her arms. 'Katy! Wake up!"
Katy moaned and opened her eyes.
'Katy!' Sophie exclaimed. 'Are you okay?'
'Y-yes.' Katy pulled herself into a sitting position. 'But how, Sophie? I was hit with the full force of her magic!' She put a hand to her head. 'I shouldn't be alive!'
Sophie smiled. 'Look at your friendship bracelet.'
Katy looked at her bracelet and gasped. 'Sophie! You've worked in your gold earrings. They protected me-but they were your favourites!'
Sophie laughed. 'Come on Katie-I'd give up all my earrings for the sake of the girl I love.'
Katie flung her arms around Sophie and the two girls kissed passionately, almost afraid to let go after so close a shave with death. For a moment, it felt like they were the only two people in the world and nothing else mattered. It was only when they parted that Katie noticed Franklin Coulter standing there with a look of disbelief on his face.
'Well…' he finally said after an indeterminable silence. 'I didn't expect to see that. Sophie, may I ask who your friend is?'
'Katie is my girlfriend," Sophie said proudly with a smile. 'We've been secretly dating for a few weeks. Katie, this is my father.'
'Ummm…nice to meet you?' Katie said with a touch of uncertainty, blushing slightly in a way that Sophie found so very cute. She looked at Sophie. 'I promise I didn't know the cut on your hand would lead Angelica to you. I would never betray you. I promise I would never-'
Sophie cut her off with another passionate kiss that left Katie breathless and smiled.
'I know' she said with a smile and Katie looked over to where Sophie's father was standing.
'Does this mean we're in the open now?' she asked and Sophie smiled.
'I guess it does,' she said, before chuckling slightly. 'You almost died. After that, anything else is small fry'
Katie grinned. 'Yeah, I guess you're right,' she said and the three of them made their way out.
