MAKING CHOICES
"My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver."
Proverbs 8: 19
People say that life is made up with choices, and that it's the choices that we make in life that shape the sort of person that we become as we grow older and, hopefully, wiser. However, these choices also affect the path that we walk in life and what we will find when we reach the clearing at the end of it.
Every member of the Winchester family had made choices that shaped their lives too, and for some of them, they're still making choices that continue to shape their lives and affect the respective paths that they walk.
Mary Winchester made a choice to save John's life when he'd been killed by Azazel, and that choice lead her to have three kids and it also lead her to her death ten years later when she went into the nursery on that fateful night.
John Winchester made a choice when he learned that Mary came from a long line of hunters, shortly after her death, and he continued making choices as he raised his children to be hunters as well, and those choices also lead him to making a deal with Azazel, one that ended up costing him his life.
Dean Winchester made a choice when he first held baby Sam, a choice to always protecting his brother and sister no matter what; not all of his choices were good, especially the ones that almost got him and his siblings killed more than once, and yet he chose to save a complete stranger instead of getting his dad out of hell, knowing full well that his dad would be furious had he done that.
Liz Winchester made the same choice when she first held baby Sam, choosing to be the peacekeeper in the family whenever there were arguments, and chose not to protest when Sam went away to college, nor did she voice her wish that she could do the same. Like with Dean, not all of her choices were good ones, but when she did make a good choice, it produced positive results, including the choice to go after the Menae that escaped, and saving a lot of lives.
Sam Winchester made a choice when he found their father's journal when he was eight years old and confronted his siblings about it, learning the truth about their father, who'd missed out on Christmas because of a hunt; he continued making choices, some good and some bad as he continued to grow up, usually ones that lead to him fighting with their dad almost constantly. He chose to go to college, where he ended up meeting Jessica, and then made another choice that lead him to go back to hunting.
Dean, Liz, and Sam all made the choice to trust the BAU team after their first encounter last year, and that team made the same choice to trust them when it became apparent that the evil they fought everyday weren't strictly human and that things like demons really do exist.
A/N: Yeah, it's short, but it happens. R&R everyone!
