Case 1: Rookies To The Rescue
-PR:DP-
FTDP Academy Auditorium
Stepping into the auditorium, one could just sense the contagious mood that was filling the room. Students from all walks of life were excited as they waited for the ceremony to start. They had done the work, put in the time, and strived to succeed. It was their time. They would be entering the real world and fighting the good fight. People whispered with their friends about where they would be stationed and who they thought they would stationed with. Proud faculty members watched from the mezzanine as they too waited for the ceremony to start. They couldn't wait for the students that they had taught and watched grow and prosper become officers. It was a proud moment for all. The stage stood empty as everyone waited for the ceremony to start.
"Aren't you excited Lani?" asked Calliope Meadows, a girl with bright red hair and glowing green eyes. "We're actually finding out today! I've been waiting for this day for two years!"
"It is pretty exciting," smiled Malulani Kahele, Lani to her friends. She brushed a speck of dust off of her gray pants. She was wearing the same thing that everyone in the student section was wearing, a gray cadet's uniform. When they were assigned their colors, she would handed a new uniform to mark her officer status.
Calliope was bouncing in her seat, "Have you thought about what color you want to get? I'm thinking I'm going to be a Pink. It's just what comes to me. By the way, I love what you did with your hair and makeup."
"Thanks," said Lani as she ran a hand over her sleek black ponytail. She had put on makeup for the occasion, something she rarely did. It wasn't much, just a touch of eyeliner and highlighter to make her light brown skin shine. "I'm not sure what color I want. I'm just happy to be here."
"I totally understand what you mean," said Calliope. "We've been working our butts off for the past two years and now it's finally going to pay off. For what it's worth, I think you're going to be great! I mean you were the best in our entire class."
"I was not! You were just as good!"
"Girl, no one can aim a pistol like you can."
Lani smiled at her friend as her ears began to turn pink in embarrassment, "We'll have to find a way to stay in contact when we get stationed. I'd like to stay in contact with you!"
Calliope was about to respond when a middle aged man approached the stage. She tapped her hand on Lani's shoulder excitedly as the ceremony began. Lani knew this man as Supreme Commander Lucas, the current head of all of the FTDP. It was an honor to be in his presence. She sat up straighter in her seat as he tapped the microphone on the lectern in front of him.
"Greetings graduates!" began Supreme Commander Lucas. "It is an honor to be here. I remember when I was your age and I was placed into my patrol unit. It's a thrilling time. You're leaving behind your studies to start a new chapter in your lives. I'm sure many of you can relate when I say that my stomach was bundled up with nerves. You're probably asking yourself the following questions. What color will I be? Who's in my patrol unit? Where will I be stationed? Well let me tell you, the answers will be worth it. We here at the FTDP make sure to answer those questions very carefully in order to ensure that the world is safe.
"I would like to take a moment to remind you all how we got to this place in time. Since we were children, our parents told us stories about the fantastical. Beautiful princesses and wicked witches. Brave heroes and terrifying dragons. The fairy tales and myths that fueled our imaginations. It came as a shock to many when what was once thought of as a scientific breakthrough quickly became a nightmare as these beloved childhood characters came into our world from another dimension with the intent of chaos and destruction. Left without any other option, The Fairy Tale Defensive Patrol was formed as a way to combat these fairy tale characters and mythical creatures and keep the citizens safe. Officers are gifted with special equipment designed to turn them into Power Rangers. Using this equipment they will capture these creatures and send them back into the dimension they came from.
"Now let's get to why we're all gathered here," chuckled Supreme Commander Lucas with a small cough. "I will start by announcing the patrol unit's number and then call the names in that unit into the microphone along with your color. We don't have a uniform system of what colors go on what patrol so formations will vary. We use six colors to divide our officers. Red, blue, yellow, green, pink, and white. We will name the leader of your patrol unit. The size of your unit depends on where we have placed you. Once the unit is gathered, my associates will give you your tickets and you will be guided to the planes outside which will fly you to where you will be stationed. "
Calliope whispered into Lani's ear, "I'm slipping my number into your pocket since it seems we won't get to say goodbye after the ceremony."
Lani nodded as she watched a man and woman walk out to stand behind a table that was a few feet away from Supreme Commander Lucas. If she stretched her neck far enough, she could see that the table was covered with envelopes of all kinds."
Calliope squealed as names began to get called up to the stage, "I'm so excited! I've never been so excited!"
"Patrol Unit 320 consists of Calliope Meadows, White," began Supreme Commander Lucas. This must have been the thirtieth team called. Calliope smiled and hugged Lani tightly as she ran up to the stage. Lani sighed and gave a soft smile as she watched her friend walk up to the stage and shake Supreme Commander Lucas's hand.
"Your time will come," whispered Lani to herself. She looked at the seats around her and sighed in relief at the fact that she wasn't the only one left. She leaned back in her seat and applauded as more of her classmates went up to receive their assignments.
Supreme Commander Lucas leaned forward into the microphone, "Patrol Unit 335."
Lani looked around and tried to guess who would be on this unit. She had begun to play this game not long after Calliope left as a way to entertain herself. She eyed a guy in the back and thought that he might be a good fit.
"The leader of the unit is Malulani Kahele, Blue."
Lani blinked her eyes in shock. She slowly got up to her feet and walked onto the stage. Shaking the hand of the Supreme Commander, Lani still couldn't believe. They thought that she had what it took to be a leader? She smiled at the audience and waited by the table for the rest of her unit to arrive on stage.
"Nicole Benoit, Yellow."
Lani applauded as a girl in the front row stood up and walked onto the stage. Lani sized the girl up. She was cute, in the girl-next-door kind of way. She seemed to be about 5'5" with a body that resembled a runner's build. She had shoulder-length chestnut brown hair that fell in loose waves and greyish blue eyes. She shook the Supreme Commander's hand and went to stand on Lani's right.
"And the final member of Patrol Unit 335 is Kirie Samuels, Pink."
Lani saw a girl approach the stairs. She looked very cold in her demeanor and yet had a kind air about her. She had tan skin and long wavy raven hair that made her dark eyes sparkle. She was very lean and seemed to be a bit muscular. She also seemed to be about 5'5". She shook the Supreme Commander's hand and went to stand on Lani's left.
"Patrol Unit 335," said Supreme Commander Lucas as he gestured to the three girls with applause. The girls turned around and Lani grabbed an envelope from the woman.
"Go out the doors on your right and follow the signs," said the woman.
Lani nodded and smiled at the two girls she was assigned with. They nodded at her and Lani led the way out the doors as instructed and into the next phase of their lives.

FTDP Runway
As the three girls walked through the auditorium doors, they found themselves standing on a runway with what looked to be the remnants of an entire fleet of private jets. Each jet had the FTDP logo emblazoned on the side of the jet and a flight attendant stood outside each plane with a card in hand that held the Patrol Unit number on it.
"Well this isn't what I was expecting," said Lani as she looked for their jet. "Do you guys see where it is?"
"It's the one right in front of us," said Kirie dryly.
Lani blushed as she walked ahead. She hadn't said anything to the two girls that she would be spending a lot of time with. She didn't know where to begin? Did she introduce herself first or wait for someone else to introduce themself? Not to mention she had to think about how exactly she was going to lead them. She had to factor in what kind of a leader she wanted to be.
"Hi," said Lani as the three approached the flight attendant. "We're the girls of Patrol Unit 335."
"Perfect," said the flight attendant, waving her hand at the staircase. "Just go up those steps and take a seat! I'll alert the pilot that we're ready for takeoff!"
Lani nodded in thanks and walked up the stairs and entered the plane. It was nice and quaint. It had a nice tan carpet as well as plush leather seats. Looking to her right, Lani saw a monitor built into the wood wall. She noticed a table in the center of the plane with a large black briefcase. The girls looked around to get an idea about where to sit until they noticed that each seat had what looked to be a uniform in it. Lani grabbed the one nearest her and unfolded it. It was the same gray as her Cadet uniform but with strong blue accents to mark her new rank.
"I like this," said Nicole as she held up her own similar uniform, the only difference being that her accents were yellow.
"That's going to look great on you," smiled Lani as she ran her fingers over the fabric.
"I'm changing first," said Kirie as she walked into the bathroom at the back of the plane.
Nicole blinked her eyes before turning to face Lani, "Hi! I'm Nicole Benoit! But you already knew that from the ceremony! It's a pleasure to be on the same Unit as you. I honestly was so excited when I found out."
"I'm Malulani Kahele," said Lani as she shook Nicole's hand. "But everyone calls me Lani."
Nicole's eyes lit up, "That's so pretty! Are you from Hawaii?"
"Yeah I was born there," said Lani. "Are you French? I noticed because of your last name."
"On my father's side," explained Nicole. "I'm Hungarian on my mother's side. Anyways what color were you expecting to get? I was hoping for Yellow. I'm glad I got it. Personally I could have seen you as a red or a blue to be honest. I wouldn't have pegged Kirie for…."
Kirie burst out of the bathroom in her new uniform, her bright pink accents stuck out, "What? I don't seem like a Pink to you?"
"No! I just would have pegged you for a blue or maybe even a white," said Nicole before grabbing her uniform and running into the bathroom.
Lani smiled at Kirie, "I'm Lani. I think we had a class together this year. You were killer at research."
"Thanks," said Kirie as she set her Cadet uniform on the seat that was a row back from where Nicole and Lani had chosen to sit. "I'm Kirie. I look forward to serving with you."
"After I change, why don't we see what's in the envelope and briefcase?" said Lani in an attempt to break the ice.
Kirie nodded, "That seems like a good idea. When we land, what do you think we should do?"
Lani paused. She hadn't thought about what would happen next. She was still thinking about things from the point of view as an Academy student. They weren't students anymore. They were entering the real world now. She would have to decide for herself what happened next. She took a deep breath and sighed in relief when Nicole came out of the bathroom in her uniform. She would think it over in the bathroom as she changed.
"I'll get back to you after I change," said Lani, passing by Nicole with a nod as she walked into the bathroom.
It didn't take her very long to change. The uniform fit nicely, frankly she wouldn't have noticed a difference between her cadet uniform and this one. The other difference that she noticed was that the pants had a tapered ankle whereas her Cadet uniform had had a wider ankle. She pulled a strand of hair back behind her ear and nodded to herself.
"It's going to be fine," whispered Lani.
Pulling open the door, Lani watched as Nicole and Kirie rose to meet her eyes. They seemed to be waiting for her first orders as leader. Lani sat down in her seat and turned to face the two girls. The flight attendant sat down in her own seat at the front of the plane as the plane began to roll down the runway for takeoff.
"When we land, we're going to head to the local FTDP station to get ourselves acquainted with the layout. I think it's best we also walk around the town to get ourselves familiar with the layout. After that we can head to our living quarters and get settled in. Does that seem fair?"
Nicole nodded, "It sounds good to me! Kirie told me we're going to open the briefcase and envelope soon?"
Lani nodded, "When the plane is stable. Do you guys mind if I nap for a bit? I was up super early for the ceremony today and I'm a bit tired."
"Go ahead. I'll wake you when when the pilot says we can move about the cabin," said Kirie, her tone as official as ever.
Lani gave the girls an appreciative smile and leaned back in her seat. She needed to rest her eyes for a moment. Luckily for her, these seats would be just the thing to help that along.

FTDP Private Jet
"Lani," said Kirie softly. "Lani."
Lani opened her eyes softly and blinked a couple of times to get readjusted to the lights of the cabin. She nodded a thanks to Kirie and turned to look out the window. She saw nothing but clouds. The plane must have reached its cruising altitude above the clouds while she was sleeping. She stretched her arms out and stood up from her seat. Nicole and Kirie followed suit and walked over to the table with the briefcase and envelope.
"Allow me to turn on the monitor," said the flight attendant from the front of the plane. "There's a corresponding video they want you to watch."
"Thanks," smiled Nicole.
The flight attendant pressed a few buttons on a remote control. The monitor came to life, flashing blue for a moment before the FTDP logo appeared on the screen. The girls looked to each other in confusion, not sure what they were were watching. The screen went dark for a moment before opening on a blue backdrop with a desk in front of it. Supreme Commander Lucas walked into frame and sat down at the desk.
"Hello," said the Supreme Commander in the video. "I would like to start by welcoming you! You are now on your way to become official FTDP Officers. This instructional video will help you get started on your journey and explain the equipment you are about to be gifted with. At your ceremony, you were given an envelope. Inside you will find where you will be stationed and a bit of information about the town. Please pause the video and open it now."
Lani grabbed the envelope off of the table and held it in her hands as the flight attendant paused the video. She ran her fingers along the seal and tore it open, revealing three sheets of paper. She set the envelope and its contents on the table. She opened the first sheet of paper, Nicole and Kirie's eyes were lit up in excitement.
"Where are we being stationed? I hope it's somewhere exciting!" said Nicole. "I've always wanted to live in a big city."
Kirie rolled her eyes, "I wouldn't mind a city. We'd be busy all the time though."
"Dear Patrol Unit 335," read Lani. "We are pleased to welcome you into the Fairy Tale Defensive Patrol. You will do great things. We have chosen to station you in Palmview, California. With your skill sets, we believe that this is where you will do the most good."
Kirie and Nicole's faces both had matching confused expressions, "Huh?"
"We're stationed in Palmview," said Lani, picking up the other piece of paper marked two. "Let me see if the other paper can tell us a bit more information."
"What does it say?" asked Kirie.
"Palmview has a population of 2,190 people. It's known for being a farming town, and it's beautiful views of nature. It currently doesn't have any active FTDP officers, but it does have an office for us that isn't too far from the local police station. According to the map, it's not quite in southern or northern California. More like in between. It says that the crime rate is low in terms of mythical creature crimes."
Kirie's face fell, "We're being stationed in a small town? I trained for two years to be in a small town without a lot of crime?"
"I'm sure they stationed us here for a reason," said Nicole with a smile. "What's on the third page?"
Lani picked it up, "Directions for how to get to various places in the town. The station, city hall, and the house we're sharing."
"We're sharing a house?" asked Kirie. "Does it say what it looks like?"
"Only the directions to the house," said Lani. "I'm assuming it would be big enough for at least the three of us. And besides, the FTDP pay for it so I'm not complaining."
"Shall I play the video?" asked the flight attendant.
Nicole nodded, "Yes please."
"Now that you have found where you're stationed, it's time to receive the backbone of being an FTDP officer. Please open the briefcase now," said the Supreme Commander Lucas on screen.
Nicole, being the closest to the briefcase, flipped open the locks on the case and opened it for the three girls to see. Nestled in red velvet were three badges in the shape of the FTDP crest. The letters were in the center along with two wands clashed in combat in the background. The badges had accented colors in blue, yellow, and pink. The three bent down to pick up the badge in their respective color.
"These are your Patrol Morphers. They are the key to fighting back against these creatures. Simply call out 'Defensive Patrol! Head Out!" and you will be transformed into Power Rangers. Each badge also serves as a means for which you can detain the criminal. You'll know how to use it in the moment. Your weapons will come to you once you morph. Good luck Officers," said Supreme Commander Lucas, the screen fading to black.
"We'll be landing in Palmview in about fifteen minutes," said the flight attendant.
"Already? I thought it would be a longer flight," said Kirie.
"It's far enough from the Academy that it'd be a long drive, but short enough by plane," explained the flight attendant.
"Do you know about what they're doing with our bags? We were told to pack them up last night," explained Lani.
"Yes," said the flight attendant. "They will be taken directly to your residence. You won't have to go there. Your bags will be there when you arrive."
"Thanks," smiled Nicole as she clipped her badge onto her uniform.
"I hope you enjoy Palmview," said the flight attendant. "I've heard it's very quaint."
"Can't wait," said Kirie dryly.
-PR:DP-
Palmview
The three girls stepped off the plane, having just landed, carrying the briefcase with the envelope inside and their cadet uniforms in hand. Palmview airport was small, being more of a landing strip than an actual airport. As the three walked across the runway, they saw a car waiting for them. The flight attendant had explained to them on the plane that a FTDP squad car would be provided for them as a means to get around the town. True to her words, a white, black, and red squad car was waiting for them.
"Who wants to drive?" asked Lani.
Nicole shrugged, "I can do it. I'm not terrible at driving."
"I'll give you directions to the station. Assuming that's still our main plan here?" asked Lani, looking at her teammates for confirmation.
"That would be a good idea," said Kirie, opening the car door to the backseat.
"I'm curious about what the station looks like," Nicole hopped into the driver seat and began to adjust the mirrors. "It can't be too big given the assumed size of the town."
"You're probably right," said Lani as she pulled out the sheet of directions. "Can you get us to the main road from here?"
Nicole nodded as the squad car began to head off, "So now what do we do?"
"The directions say to head south on the highway for about three miles," read Lani.
"Thanks but that's not what I meant," chuckled Nicole. "I mean when it comes to getting to know each other. We already know each other's names. We need to find a way to clear the awkward stench that's clogging the air between us."
Lani stared out the window at the passing fields, "We could all go around and share a bit about ourselves. That would pass the time. I can go first since it was my idea."
"That's fine," said Nicole, following the signs on the side of the road to get into town.
"Alright," said Lani, carefully thinking about what she wanted to say in front of these girls. "My name means under heaven's protections in Hawaiian."
"That's so cool!" exclaimed Nicole, furrowing her brows in thought. "Alright. I'm really good at identifying different storybook characters and mythical creatures. It's what I was best at at the Academy. I think it has something to do with my fascination with them ever since I was a kid."
Nicole looked into the rearview mirror at Kirie. The girl had been silent for quite a while. She was quietly watching the fields go by as they drover closer and closer to Palmview. "Kirie," said Nicole. "It's your turn."
"Oh," said Kirie. "I like to cook."
"Really?" asked Nicole. "So do I! What's your best dish? I don't mean to brag, but I make a mean pumpkin pie. I'll have to make it for you guys some time!"
Kirie thought it over, "I'm pretty good at making chicken carbonara."
"Nice," said Lani, chuckling. "I'm expecting to be very well fed now. Oh hey turn here! This is it!"
Nicole nodded and turned where Lani had told her to. As the car drove down the road, the fields disappeared and began to be replace by houses. The houses seemed to be a mixture of Victorian style and your standard ranch house. They were very indicative of the kind of town it was. Every house had a green lawn and a fence of some kind. As Nicole navigated the roads, small businesses began to pop up. There was a grocer, barber shop, a coffee shop and bookstore combo, and what looked to be a gym.
"Take the next right," said Lani.
The buildings began to get more elaborate as places such as the City Hall, the library, and the theater came into view. The girls passed by the police station. It was an average building. Strong brick walls, tinted windows, and being a couple stories tall. Nicole drove on and pointed at a building a few blocks down.
"That must be it!" said Nicole as she pulled into a spot on the side of the curb. "Are we ready to do this?"
Lani nodded and the three girls exited the car. They walked up to the station and looked up. The FTDP sign was a bit faded and old, but it wasn't anything that a new can of paint wouldn't solve. As the three walked into the station itself, it seemed to be a pretty simple setup. There were about four cubicles, each with a dinosaur of a computer. There were stairs indicating that there was more upstairs, and in the back the three could see two jail cells. Lani ran a finger over one of the cubicles and pulled her finger up to see it was covered in dust.
"Lovely," said Lani sarcastically.
"It's really not so bad," said Nicole. "We could find a way to clean this place up."
"If you have an industrial sized feather duster maybe," Kirie set her stuff down on one of the cubicles' chairs.
Lani looked around the back of the station, "Hello? Is anyone here?"
"There's probably no one here," said Kirie. "I think the dust speaks for itself."
The sounds of a man coughing up a storm could be heard throughout the station. The three exchanged similar looks of confusion before they cautiously walked to the bottom of the staircase. Lani walked one step up before subconsciously reaching for her badge. She didn't think they were in any trouble, but she did want to be prepared just in case.
"Hello?" asked Lani cautiously. "Is anyone there?"
"Just a sec," called down the voice. "I'll be right there!"
As soon as he had finished speaking, the girls saw a figure at the top of the staircase. He took the stairs two at a time, but he missed a step. The girls stepped back as the man slid down to the bottom of the stairs with a hard thud. Nicole ran ahead to help him up. As she helped dust him off, the three were able to get a good look at him. He looked to be in his early thirties. He was cute in the nerdy-adorable kind of way. His blonde hair was messy and hung in his brown eyes. He wore a violet button-down shirt with a pair of black slacks and dress shoes. He brushed his hair out of his eyes and turned to see the girls.
"Hi! You must be the new Patrol Unit?" asked the man. "They told me that they were sending a new unit in. I've been waiting for you and told myself that I was going to get this place ready in time, but I wasn't able to. I feel really bad though because I wanted to make a good first impression."
Lani put a hand on his shoulder, "Breathe. It's okay. We don't care about how pretty our station is on our first day here. I'm Malulani Kahele, but everyone calls me Lani. I'm the Blue Ranger and leader of the unit."
Nicole waved at the man, "Hi! Nicole Benoit. Yellow Ranger."
Kirie raised her arm as she went to sit back at her cubicle, "Kirie Samuels. Pink."
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you," said the man, brushing his hair back again. "I'm Eddie Richter. I'm your technical supervisor slash receptionist. I'm here to make your day run smoother. I touch up your tech. Help you with cases if need be. Alert you of any problems brought up on our website."
"Our station has a website?" asked Kirie in a surprised tone.
"It's not frequented very often," explained Eddie. "I'm hoping that with a team here, we'll get more business."
Nicole walked over to her cubicle and sat on the desk, "How long has this place been vacant?"
"About five years or so when the last officers retired and moved to Miami," said Eddie jokingly. "Palmview's pretty quiet usually."
Lani leaned against a wall, "How long have you been working here Eddie?"
"I've been here for about nine years," said Eddie. "I've had a lot of free time on my hands to develop different types of tech for you to use."
Lani smiled, "Thanks! We were just popping by to get a feel for the station. I guess I should start by asking if there's been anything strange going on in town?"
"The stoplight down on Fourth hasn't been working for the past two weeks," mused Eddie. "I'm trying to think."
Nicole spoke up, "Maybe a case that the police couldn't figure out? They got to a dead end? Surely you keep in tabs with each other?"
"I mean they do," started Eddie, nervously playing with the ends of his shirt.
Kirie sensed his hesitation, "But what?"
"The FTDP is nothing but a joke around here. People think that the whole thing is some made up organization," stated Eddie.
Lani took a deep breath. This wasn't a common opinion. Despite having Patrol Units all over the world, this was still one of the hardest stigmas to overcome. There were large groups of people who thought that the FTDP was nothing but a joke.
"We'll just have to change that," said Lani. "Eddie, are there any cases that the police wrote off?"
Eddie paused in thought for a moment, "Well there is one."
"Yes?" asked Kirie, leaning forward. "What is it?"
"Recently there's been a string of deaths going on in the town. The police tried to catch the killer but it was no use. There were no marks on the body. No signs of struggle. The police did an autopsy and didn't find any drugs in their systems. It was strange."
Nicole narrowed her brows, "Were there any witnesses?"
Eddie nodded, "One of the deaths had a witness. It was a little boy. He said that a woman in a long silver dress and silver hair arrived at his house and screamed so loud that his father dropped dead instantly. He also mentioned something about the woman mentioning hatred towards the family in general."
"How did you know all this from memory? Did you sit in on interrogations?" asked Lani.
"For this one, yes. It could have been a fantasy creature so the police let me in on it. I memorized it because I knew you three would be arriving soon."
Nicole looked up from the piece of paper she had begun to write on, "Are there any connections between the victims that you can tell us about?"
Kirie turned around to her computer, "I'll see if database is any help."
Eddie walked over to the cubicle that the girls hadn't claimed. It appeared that he had claimed it for himself. He pulled open a desk drawer and pulled out a sole brown file. Lani walked over to look over his shoulder. He pulled out what appeared to be a series of pictures, presumably the victims of the attack. The pictures must have been taken immediately after death because the expressions on their faces were...painful to look at. There was so much pain in those expressions.
"Nicole," said Lani. "Look at these."
"All of the victims are from the same family," said Kirie, reading off of the computer. "They're all siblings. There's seven in total and six of them are dead. They're all within the same age range, they're all in their forties. Their deaths were within a day of each other. Approximate time of death seems to be somewhere between eleven and twelve p.m."
Nicole ran her fingers across the page and took in this information, "The bodies are too pristine to be the work of a human. Normally the facial expressions aren't so….intact."
"It looks like they were literally scared to death," said Lani. "There's definitely something going on here. What do you think we have here Nicole?"
Nicole rubbed her chin in thought, "Based on the description that the boy gave and the information we have, I want to say a banshee. It's the closest in match to the evidence we have before us."
Eddie raised his eyebrows, "Banshee? As in screeching Irish ghost banshee? I thought we just dealt with fairy tales?"
"We cover everything," said Lani. "What would a banshee want with a family from Palmview? Don't banshees normally haunt their own families?"
"It might be boring on the other side," said Kirie. "We might be more entertaining to them."
"Maybe it just likes the thrill of killing humans," said Nicole. "So what do we do?"
Lani stared at the two women she had just met today. Already these girls looked to her as their leader. She felt honored that they chose to place this much faith in her. She looked at Eddie and watched as he smiled at her. She took a deep breath and met her team in the eyes once more.
"Kirie, print out the address for the last sibling. The banshee's going to kill them tonight no doubt based on how it's handled the previous siblings. Nicole, research everything that our database has on how to combat a banshee. Eddie, you and I are going to head upstairs and you're going to show me some of this tech you've been talking about."
Kirie raised an eyebrow, "Then what?"
"We're doing a stakeout," said Lani. "And we're going to catch ourselves a banshee."
-PR:DP-
Thanks for reading the first chapter of Power Rangers: Dream Patrol! I wanted to undergo a rebirth and start fresh on this account. I'm entering a new phase in my personal life and I want my writing to grow as I do. I hope you all like this story as much as my past work!
As for the story itself, I had a lot of fun writing this first chapter! I could have kept going and going but when I got to the end, I knew it was where I had to stop. Thanks to those I asked and gave me OC's for this fic! I'm having a lot of fun writing these characters. Also this style of fairy tale cop drama is somewhat new to me. I generally don't watch cop dramas but I loved Once Upon A Time when it was still good that is. I hope I'm able to craft a narrative that captures the spirit of those cop shows with my own twist!
I have to say my favorite part of the chapter was writing the team's first interactions and how awkward it was. I'd assume that's how I'd be if I were in this scenario. Anyways let me know what you think of the fic! Don't forget to fave, follow. Review, and I will see you next time!
