Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee
He was back at the academy for their annual week of training. Nick checked his schedule: 9am - Self-defense instructor: Hopps, Judith L. This must be someone's idea of a joke, he thought. He signed, pick up his bag, and walked to the gym. He thought about his bunny and smiled. Well, how bad could it be? Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how one looked at it he'd soon find out.
When he entered she was punching the heavy bag. He was silent for a time and just watched her. She looked elemental. Her muscles were all well defined standing out under her grey and white fur. Every time she hit the bag nearly folded double. He gulped and tried to think of an excuse not to be here. Then she finally noticed him and then there was no getting out of it.
"Judy!" he said and smiled.
She turned and regarded him.
"It's Instructor Hopps!"
"Yes, ma'am." he said, the smile disappearing from his face.
She helped him put on his gloves and he climbed into the ring. Judy being Judy simply leapt and landed in the middle, making a boom and the ring bounce. Then she took a few practice jabs and faced him bringing up her guard. He did the same.
"Remember Fluff, we're just sparing."
Judy glared at him and then grinned.
"Sparring or not, you must defeat me you dumb fox!"
I'm one dead Fox! he thought and sighed.
"Let's just do it!" she said and danced closer.
He took a quick look around the room to make sure no one else was present. Then he smiled, dropped his guard, and stood before his bunny completely unprotected. Green eyes met purple ones. She drew back and he watched her glove coming toward his face. He didn't flinch and a moment later felt just the slightest tap on his muzzle.
"Dumb Fox!"
He chuckled.
"My beautiful bunny."
He reached for her and pulled her into his arms with only a moment's resistance on her part. Their lips met. Afterward he held her close and she giggled.
"How'd you know?"
"You know you love me."
"Do I know that?" she said but this time stared into his eyes. "Yes. Yes, I do with all my heart."
Then their lips met for only the second time.
