The Souls of Samurai
Chapter 1: The War of Kyoto
Masashi awoke one night to the cries of war. He just wanted the war to end, the large amounts of deaths have attracted blood-thirsty Hollows, and he's been busier than ever. Every morning he'll awake to a ghost messenger pigeon at the window, with a job. Kill the Hollow, kill the Hollow, kill the hollow. The same thing again and again. But something seemed different about this battle. It sounded extremely close to Kyoto. The enemies couldn't have come this close, could they've?
Masashi slowly parted the bamboo curtain on his window. What he saw our city fighting wasn't an army, they were low to the ground. And they pounced. They were wolves. But not normal wolves. He sensed something.
When Masashi was little, a magician gave him the power to see ghosts. When he turned 13, he became a Soul Reaper. But he wasn't a soul, like most Soul Reapers. He became a soul when he needed to fight. But no ghost pigeons came to the window tonight. The wolves couldn't be Hollows, could they? Animals never became Hollows, because Hollows never ate animal souls. They didn't fill their bellies. Hollows needed to feast on humans to quench the thirst of blood.
After awaking from his long train of thought, Masashi saw that the samurai were dead, and then the wolves disappeared. They must of been Hollows. They could have been killing millions, but he was never told because no one recognized them as Hollows. Masashi he needed to solve this mystery. He vowed that in the morning, he would contact the Soul Society and tell them about these creatures. He had to do something, or Kyoto might lose the war.
