Hey everyone. This story is for the Chocolate Truffle Craze on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I choose to write for both White and Sprinkles with this one. The task for White was to write a Wings AU. The task for Sprinkles is to write about cheering someone up. This can be read as Companion piece to Watching Over Us. I hope you all enjoy Teddy's Mum.
The woman who visited me every night after Daddy put me to bed was the most beautiful he had ever seen. She seemed to look just like him whenever she visited him. Even down to the wings which changed color depending on her hair. Which usually depended upon the color of his hair during the day. She never spoke. Today was the first time. It was after Daddy had explained why Mummy couldn't be here with us.
"What's wrong?" she asked as soon as she appeared in front of him.
"I asked my Daddy about my Mummy today," I said looking up at her. "Why she couldn't be here with us and everything?"
"Did you believe what you father told you?" she asked concern coloring her voice as she watched me carefully. "About what why your Mummy couldn't be with you?"
I nodded as I looked at the now vivid purple wings that match both our purple hair. I looked at her my eyes widening. "Are you an angel?" I asked her in awe. "Are you?"
"You can say that," she told me.
"If your angel and angels come from heaven," I began slowly, "is my Mummy in heaven?"
"Was your Mummy a good woman?"
"I don't know. I was baby when she went away."
"People have told you stories about her. Haven't they?"
I nodded watching the winged woman in front of me.
"Then was portrayed as a good woman in those stories?"
I nodded. "She was. Daddy said she was the best woman he had ever met. He doesn't like to talk about her a lot. It makes him sad. I think. I don't like making Daddy sad like I did earlier."
The winged woman gently placed her hand on back soothingly. A smile played on her face. "Your Daddy's right," she told me. "Your Mummy is watching over you. I know that for a fact."
"How do you know?" I asked her sadly.
"I know because I am your mother," she told me. "I'm guardian angel also. Which is pretty big job. Means I get to look after you even though you can't see me all the time. Are you okay with that, Teddy?"
Tears began to cloud my eyes as I nodded. "But can't we tell Daddy?" I asked sadly.
"I'll him let him," she whispered gently kissing my forehead. "Now to bed with you. It's going to be another long day tomorrow and Daddy is going to need to be strong for him again."
She walked out my door as footsteps approached. I could hear Daddy's confused voice saying, "Tonks!" as the glow of her flying home dissipated from the hallway. Daddy rushed into my room shock written on his face.
"Are you alright?" he asked picking me up out of my bed.
"Yes," I told him. "Mummy's watching over us."
And she was.
I hope you all enjoyed Teddy's Mum.
