That's it. You're going sober. You don't care how hard it will be. You're going sober. You're best friend's sweet sixteen is coming up and you want to be sober for her party. There are many reasons though you want to sober up:

Calliope. She needs you and you've realised that trying to support her through the pain in the ass called her brother while drunk probably isn't very helpful. Come to think of it, you haven't heard from her in so long. Hope she's ok.

Jane. Like you've just mentioned, it's one of her most important birthdays coming up and you don't want to embarrass either her or yourself at her birthday. Sometimes you feel like you fail as a friend whenever you're drunk. You let down all your friends and you don't want to be looked down upon as the stupid drunk girl.

The Game. In general, you feel like if you are sober when you complete this game, you can experience the full joy of being able to get back home, see your mum again and be able to go back to normal. Even though you know nothing will be the same. Not after what you have all been through. But just to think, nothing will be blurry, only blurry through the tears of joy as you see your life returning to you. And while you have to wait a while during your game session, it will give you so much time to fully recover from your drinking problem. Perfect.

You can't help a smile tug at your lips at the thought of it. You reflect on how well you are doing so far. You are now fully enjoying your friend's company and for the first time in how-many-years, you feel happy. Not just from the drink. But happy that you can speak without slurring and hiccing. Happy that you can focus on your friend's faces without them multiplying. Just- happy with the world.

You want it to last though. You won't let anything bring you down. But now as you look around your sober world- you find that rather difficult. Janey's upset. Her ex-crush keeps pestering her about his problems with Dirk. She's really angry, screaming down her novelty headset at him to shut up. She shouldn't be angry so near her birthday.

And earlier on- she was upset at Dirk and he was probably upset at her, because Jake kissed his decapitated head. That bit, you don't understand. Everyone was angry and upset and confused. You were trying so hard to make them happy. To make them proud of you. To make them like you.

Where did you go wrong?

Back to the present. Jane is still angry. You are trying to calm her down, reassuring her that guys can be douchey like that, but she won't listen. She flips the table over the roof, along with the cake and screams at you. Your sober mind registers this for once. She screams at you. You have made her angry. But then she says something which strikes you like a bolt of lightning.

"I THINK I LIKED YOU BETTER WHEN YOU WERE DRINKING!"

You can't believe she could say that. You are trying so hard to please them, especially Jane. And now she's saying that she liked you more when you had a problem. When you thought that she would like you more if you stopped.

Your name is Roxy Lalonde and you now remember why you're an alcoholic.
