Disclaimer: Obviously, I don't own the Hakuouki series.
Souji Okita wordlessly stared at Chizuru's face while she was sleeping peacefully. The moonlight made his expression more tender and gentler than anyone could imagine. He ran his fingers through her soft black hair, silently wondered what would happen now that they decided to live together.
Even with fury's power being purified, he still had tuberculosis. And he knew that his time was near.
He had never been this scared before.
Not for himself, never.
He was scared for his girl.
He hugged Chizuru closer when the thought of her being alone crossed his mind. What if she tried to kill herself? That was not impossible, not at all. He knew how much determination this girl actually has, even under this fragile body, Chizuru was stronger than most of the men he had known.
The surged of pride run through his body as he was thinking about it, but it was gone as soon as it came when his thought went back to what her expression would be when she realized that he was no longer among the living. How sad she would be, how her tears would roll down on her cheeks, how she would…
He felt sick.
Suddenly Okita kissed her forehead and messaged his wife's back gently, hoping to ease her pain that may come in the future, and whispered, "You know that I don't want to go, right? I will always be yours."
No answer.
Okita sucked in his breath sharply, then, slowly, he began to drift away as sleep claimed him.
…
He didn't notice that the girl's back was tensing.
And when Chizuru made sure that Okita was really sleeping, she began to cry.
End.
This is so sad. I remember finishing the game with tears rolling down on my face like a river, couldn't believe that the script writer just killed Okita. Okita and the protagonist went through so much together and still..
Depressing, isn't it?
But I love the story so much. Even if he died, it was beautiful still. I couldn't stay mad. LOL
