Part 1-"The Birth of Matthew Frederick"
A young pregnant woman was soon due to give birth; her name was "Annabelle Marie Hurwitz"; age 19 and without a husband as he had dumped her just after they had sex. She wanted to share the news with him about their baby; but there wasn't a trace of him anywhere. She felt lost and alone during her first few months of her pregnancy. However, she wasn't alone, for she had her family of her mother, father and twin sister to help her along the way..
It was a crisp, sunny November afternoon and for Annabelle, being extremely pregnant and walking over to her parent's diner was quite a task! "Phew!", she panted as she stretched out her back, "Finally made it and famished!" The bell rang from inside the diner. The usual customers were there and smiled at the pregnant woman; "Hey, Anna! How's that baby treating you these days? Haven't had it yet?", a man asked her. She smiled while rubbing her large abdomen, "Nope! Not yet, but due anytime now!" Just then, her mother 'Maye Claire' walked in from the back of the diner kitchen. She ran towards her daughter, "Mornin', Anna!", as short as she was she was just at the right height to squeeze her twin daughter's large abdomen. Maye was full of joy at seeing her pregnant daughter. She even nuzzled her belly. Anna of course, was blushing as customers were staring. "Um? Nice to see you too, Mom.." she said. After Maye's excitement she became serious, "Now, Anna! Shouldn't you be resting at this time? You're due any day now.." Anna sighed, "Yes! I know that, Mom, but I wanted to help out a bit today, make some extra cash?" She continued, "I'll let you know when I'll need a ride to the town hospital, okay?" Resting assured, Maye let herself smile through her thoughts of concern for her pregnant daughter, she was 19 after all. "Okay, then! Let's see..can you help serve coffee? Go ahead and grab an extra apron and let's get at it!" By the time it was evening, customers had come and gone. The diner was half empty, as quiet as an evening could get in a small town diner. "Whooo!", panted Anna, "I need a break! I'm pooped!" Her twin sister Rebekah felt concern for her twin sister, "I should take you home, it's been too rough a day for you to be working like this." Out of nowhere, their father walked in from the back of the kitchen, 'Elbert Edward Hurwitz'; he was rather quite tall for his age at 6'3", soon to be a grandfather and wasn't proud of it, none at all. "...She's right, Annabelle, it's too damn late in your condition to be working at a job as demanding as this...", he replied in a stern and harsh tone. Annabelle rolled her eyes at his remark knowing it would set him off. He barked at her the minute he saw her do it, "Don't you DARE roll your eyes at me, young lady! You got yourself into this mess and soon you'll be paying the price! Both you and that baby that you're carrying..Pray to God it doesn't have your lack of brains!"
As evening drew to an end, the night drew even closer as it became dark; dark like midnight shadows alongside the bright moonlight. Something was also drawing closer to it's time within the night...
