Toshirou's POV
As I walked out of the gate with Matsumoto, Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Renji beside me my soul pager went off. Two hollows 4 blocks from here. "I got this, go ahead." Without looking at them I flash stepped away. I wouldn't tell anyone but the reason I took this was because it was only 5 blocks away from Karin's place and I wanted to see how she was doing. I have been worried about her since I had left five years ago. Her spirit pressure was as big as her brothers so she was a magnet for hallows.
I got to where the hollows were. I only saw one hollow, and that one was fighting a shinigami that had a mask that looked like a cat. It was black and he or she had long black hair that went down to his or her lower back. After the hollow was dead the person turned towards me. "Who are you?" I asked. The person replied with a female's voice, "I am the black cat," then she flash stepped away. Before I realized what was happening she was gone. I went and got my giai without anyone noticing.
As I walked to Karin's house I thought about this black cat. Her voice was tugging at a reluctant memory that floated around to edge of my mind and every time I had it, the memory slipped away. I knocked on the door thinking she wouldn't like me barging in through her window. A girl with light brown hair answered. "Hello is Karin home?" I asked the girl. She shook her head. "No she went to visit our uncle. She should be back tomorrow. I'll tell her you stopped by Toshirou." She started to close the door when I stopped her. "Wait, how do you know my name?" She looked sheepish. "Karin talks about you all the time, you're like her hero."
I was shocked to hear that. The way she talked about her brother made me think that he was her hero. "Thank you." As I walked away I heard a man's voice yell "My daughter finally has a boyfriend!" I shook my head and kept on walking.
I arrived at Urahara's shop to find no one was in the shop part of building. I walked to the back of the building and found everyone sitting around the table. Matsumoto had sake in front of her and Renji was trying to get her to have a drinking contest. Yumichika was talking to Ikkaku and Yoruichiwas talking to Urahara and someone else.
The new person had raven black hair down to her shoulder and was wearing boyish clothing. She turned towards me and smiled. "How have you been, Shorty?" Everyone looked at me expecting me to get mad, but I just said, "Good, doing to much paperwork thanks to someone. How about you, Tomboy?" She jumped up and hugged me. "It's good to see you again, Toshirou!" Everyone's couldn't believe there eyes when I, the Ice Prince, hugged her back. "It's good to see you too, Karin." I buried my face in her hair. For some reason she smelt like the first snow. When I heard the door open I quickly let go of her and turned to the door. In came Ichigo and Rukia in shinigami form.
"Karin, why did I just see you hugging a short ass midget?" Ichigo asked and Karin had to hold me back as I lunged at him. "I'm not short! And it's Captain Hitsugaya to you, Kurosaki." Karin, I noticed, was starting to chuckle, then started to full out laugh. Looking at her so laughing like she had no care in the world made me want to smile and laugh with her, but I didn't. I just looked at her and asked her, "What are you laughing at Tomboy?" She took one look at me and started laughing harder. She was laughing to the point that she was on the floor with tears running down her face. Suddenly she stopped and looked out the window and half a heart beat latter we all felt it. Ten hollows, and they were heading this way.
