A/N - I know I haven't updated my other fic yet, but there has been a lot of setbacks such as people robbing my laptop off me! This is sort of a way of easing back into it, and getting rid of my mental block for TBHE. The following chapters will be longer than this, I'm just setting the scene here. Anyway, enjoy!

When It Isn't Like It Should Be.

Chapter One

It was the first day of a new school and a new school year. Naomi sat in her form classroom, alone as she preferred to be, when a short brunette sat in the seat next to her. From first glance, Naomi notices that this girl is quite timid and that she refuses to make eye contact with anyone, keeping her eyes firmly on the board at the front of the classroom. She kept trying to make eye contact with the girl next to her when she felt a tap on her shoulder and turns to see a girl who looks the spitting image of the girl sat next to her, stood behind her chair.

She looked at Naomi expectantly, obviously wanting her to leave the seat, but as Naomi looked around the classroom realising that there were no other seats left; apart from next to a rather scruffy looking lad; she told the other girl to find her own seat. Noticing that neither Naomi or her sister were going to move out of the seats, the twin stormed off over to the seat beside the scruffy lad, trying to distance herself away from him when he leans over her seat, trying to get a glimpse of her tits.

Emily, the twin who was sat next to Naomi, looks at the girl next to her in amazement. No one had ever stood up to Katie Fitch like that and Emily couldn't help but think that there was going to be hell to pay for this later on.

The teacher walked into the classroom and started a register. It seemed like most people in this class all knew each other from the way that the popular kids were cheering at each other's names and laughing at the obviously quiet ones. When the teacher came to Naomi in the register, she saw the girl next to her look up at her for a second before facing towards the front again.

When an 'Emily Fitch' is shouted by the teacher, the girl next to her raises her hand slowly. It seems she never wants to focus any attention on herself. Naomi couldn't help but think that Emily was a nice name for the girl though. It suited her.

After a long morning of doing absolutely nothing, Naomi was bored stiff and stood in the corner of the playground watching all the other kids run around like lunatics. She noticed that Katie had already found a group of girls to follow her around everywhere. They spotted Naomi and made a beeline for her, Katie at the front of the group like some pathetic leader.

They started to push Naomi around, obviously trying to provoke her into fighting them but she stood her ground and refused to back down against these girls, who were obviously aiming to become the popular girls of the school by the time they were older. As Katie pushed past the girls and threw her arm back to punch Naomi, Emily flew forwards and stood in front of her sister, pushing her away. It was the first time Emily had stood up to the demanding twin and the shock of it pushed Katie to slap her sister in the face. Katie then turned to walk away, tears in her eyes at the way she had just treated her sister.

Naomi saw that Emily was really upset and pulled her into a nearby bathroom to clean her up and allow her to cry in private without everybody staring at them. They both realised in that moment, as Naomi hugged Emily towards her to stop the smaller girl from crying, that they were now friends. Good friends at that. And as the weeks, then months passed both girls became inseparable.
