One More Time

I love Spiderman, and I adore Joe, (JMS, Creator Babylon 5 and recent writer of Amazing Spiderman). I did not like how they ended his run in the comics. Joe's a really nice guy, he rescues cats (I'm on a listserve that he occasionally comes onto and talks about them). This being said, I hated the ending to One More Day, it blew. No, don't own them.
I can't believe you let him do that, a voice sounded.
What do you mean? A little adversity never hurt anyone. What, you want me to fix this?

Peter awoke to the smell of cooking food and a warm body next to him. He smiled, She still felt nice. He didn't think that would ever change. He stretched, climbing out of bed. Then it hit him, the party. "Hey, get up, we're late."
A head popped up out of the covers, smelling the food cooking in the kitchen. "Aunt May cooking breakfast and, as usual, didn't wake us up," she smiled, giving him a kiss. "I love you."
They hurriedly got dressed and ran into the kitchen. May smiled at them, "I couldn't wake you, sleeping so peacefully. This elicited a blush from Peter's companion.
Peter grabbed food right off the pan telling Aunt May that they couldn't miss the best part of the Surprise Party. Harry was coming home from Europe, and the pitfalls of being rich and famous, rehab. "I love you, Aunt May," came the chorus as they rushed out the door. The old woman smiled.
The trouble with Peter's singing, she thought on the ride to the party, is he can't. She ignored it and enjoyed the ride. They got to the penthouse barely ahead of the guest of honor who walked in with a drop-dead gorgeous blonde on his arm. Everyone laughed, this was so Harry. "The trouble with you, Parker," Harry said. "Is that you only have eyes for one woman."
"I wouldn't have it any other way," Peter replied. He looked across the room and locked eyes with her. Mary Jane was definitely the one for him.
