The investigators lay on a bed. "Why are you still here?" asked one investigator holding out a recorder. Silence washed over them in response. Suddenly the silence was broken by the noise of a tiny cough. "Did you hear that?" he asked. "Yeah, what was that?" "Go check, Jason."
Jason walked out into the hallway and to his surprise, saw a young girl standing there. She was small and very pale. Her long brown hair cascaded to her shoulders in a tumble of curls. She was wearing a white night gown that went down to her knees and her head was cocked to the side in curiosity. "Um, hi?" "What are you doing in my house?" She asked warily. "We're in investigators." "Oh, what are you investigating?" Jason hesitated to answer but the green eyes of the child urged him on. "We're seeing if any spirits are lingering here. Are you Victoria's daughter? I thought you were at your grandmother's."
Grant, still in the room, heard Jason talking to somebody. At first he thought he was taking EVPs but it became clear he was having a conversation. Grant walked to the door and poked his head out. "Jason who are you talkin- oh, um, who's this?" He stepped out of the room to face the slight figure before him. "I'm not quite sure. What's your name sweetie?" "It's Grace. Please don't call me sweetie. I'm not a 2 year old." Jason and Grant exchanged glances. "Okay, no problem. How old are you then?" "13, technically." Grant raised an eyebrow. "Technically? What do you mean by that?" Grace sighed. "I've been stuck here for around 30 years."
Jason stared at the girl. "Wait. So that would mean–" "Yeah, I'm actually about 43 years old. I don't know for sure. I stopped counting a while ago."
Jason and Grant realized that they were still standing in the hallway. "Oh. We're sorry. Do you want to come sit down?" Grace obliged. She walked over to the bed and sat down. "So, Grace? Are you a… well you know, a sprit? A ghost?" Her face suddenly became very worn down and weary. Her eyes started to water. "I'm sorry!" Grant said quickly. "I didn't mean to pry." "No, no it's okay." She wiped away her tears and looked up at Jason.
"Mr., do you have kids?" Jason thought of his two kids at home. "Yes, I have two children." The child looked at the ground and asked softly, "Do you ever get so mad at your kids that you want to hit them? Even kill them?"
Jason stared at the girl in curiosity and horror. "Is that what happened to you?" he asked softly. As he was talking there was a flash of light in the hallway. Laura's eyes got huge with fear.
"What the heck was that?" Jason whispered. Grace stood up quickly and it startled the two investigators. "Oh. Oh no. They're here. I thought they would leave me alone. No I have to go!" Grace started to run for the door. Jason and grant stood up. "Grace! No, we can help you. Don't go!" Grace turned around her hair fanning behind her. "You can't help me. No one can. I'm stuck in this hell. I've already told you too much. I'm sorry." Her figure started to fade as she backed out the door. "What? What are you talking about? We can help you!" Grace shook her head and closed her eyes as she faded. "You need to leave. You need to go or they'll take you too. Oh! No!" Laura screamed as black hands with tentacle like arms enclosed around her body. She kicked and yelled but they still pulled her back into what seemed as a invisible hole. Almost immediately she disappeared completely and her yells became distant. Soon they were in complete silence. Grant and Jason looked at each other trying to believe what they just experienced.
