New Moon

Worlds of Possibilities

Saint Marcus's Day. The day Volterra celebrates the rid of vampires. I'm not sure if I believe in the myths and legends, like Dracula, or Carmilla. But, on this very day, exactly 12 years ago, someone, or may I say something, just made me think, I wasn't sure if the world I live in, was all it seemed to be.

My mother and I were stood at the back of the crowd, whom were also wearing scarlet red robes. At first I was engrossed in the parade, in my own little world, but then I saw this girl, she was slim, had long brunette hair and the expression on her face was scared, but seemed determined to get somewhere, or running for her life, as fast as her limbs could propel. Then there was this man, he was handsome, his hair was straggly, and he was as pale as death. He looked slightly cautious, and seemed to be unbuttoning his shirt. He didn't see the girl. He was stepping forward, into the light, since he was in the cool of the shade of the cobbled porch of the clock tower. Just as he stepped into the light of the sweltering sun, the girl swiftly ran into his muscular arms. I could vaguely hear what the girl was saying, but I remember her gasping "Edward, Edward, I'm alive!, Edward, Step out of the light!".

But the weirdest thing was, I sort of understood. There was something about this scene that wasn't right. I almost had to replay it in my head. There was moment were he stepped into the sunlight, it sounds slightly hilarious to even suggest someone could even possibly do this without a lot of glue and glitter, but he sparkled in the light. I am sure of it. It wasn't light trickery, or the sun, he was generally sparkling. And that's what changed my opinions and my beliefs on myths and legends. This man could be, ridiculous for me to say, Immortal.
