Courtney is an amazing girl. She is smart, beautiful, has goals but she is bossy, loud and a pain in the ass, but she is like that only when she likes you. She deserves the best of the best, someone like me, Trent. I loved her, since the day I met her at Camp Wawanakwa, I can say it was love at first sight. The whole Gwen thing was just a diversion. But Courtney didn't say a word to me for the whole time we were at the Camp. She spent her time with Duncan, a good for nothing delinquent, who wasn't going anywhere. They started going out. It was heartbreaking news. When Duncan cheated on her with Gwen, Courtney broke into a million pieces. She would stare at them when they shared a kiss, when they held hands…it was horrible. And I saw her eyes; I saw them longer for the love she never really received from Duncan. And even now after five months I still see the longer in her eyes. But she doesn't see I loved her from the start. She doesn't see how much I love everything about her. Like the way she dances when it's raining, or the way she grimaces when she's annoyed, or even when she's mad and her left eye starts to twitch. She doesn't know this things and she doesn't see they way I look at her.
Since I was little I always wanted to be a painter, but I never had a good motive of which I would not get tired of. But now I found it, it's Courtney, she's perfect. Between classes I draw her, I have various drawings of her and this year I decided I'm going to have an art exhibition. And one of my paintings will be her, because she has a face of an angel and has to be adored and known by everyone in the world, just like Mona-Lisa.
It was in the end of June and the results of finals were published. I saw Courtney skip to the board to see if she has passed. Of course she did. She scrolled down the list to see if anyone has failed. There was only one name on the list and it was mine. I was the only one that failed. I approached her and she turned to me.
"But how? You were always a good student." I pulled my sketchbook out of my bag and gave it to her. She looked at me questionably.
"Open it." She opened it and started to turn pages. She looked at me.
"That's me." I opened the page where we were on the pier of Wawanakwa Camp.
"This is where I fell in love with you."
"How come I never saw you? I looked at you all the time. And-..Wait is that me dancing?"
"I guess you were looking but didn't really see."
"So, what now?"
"You're going with me."
"Where?"
"To the museum, I have an art exhibition."
"Really? Of what?"
"Of you, my Mona-Lisa."
Courtney hugged me and we walked hand in hand towards the Middlebury Museum. My exhibition turned out well, the visitors were especially enthusiastic about Courtney's painting and the critics gave her a new name: Modern Mona-Lisa. I was invited to study Art in Paris; of course I gladly accepted the offer. And my girlfriend is coming with me; she is going to study Law. If she's in my life, then my life is perfect.
