"Henry…" Natalie groaned, completely exhausted. "Henry, GET UP!"

"No…" he mumbled and quickly tried to fall back asleep. "It's your turn…"

"It was my turn last time. You go."

"But…."

"Go…"

Sighing, he got up from the bed and slowly made his way out of the room, glaring at Natalie, who smirked and then fell back asleep. He walked into the other room, only to be greeted by the most awful sound he ever heard at three in the morning.

His daughter.

8-month-old Gabrielle was crying again. It seemed to be her new routine: cry, wake up Natalie who woke up Henry, and get attention. And for some reason, Henry always got the early morning shifts. He sulked his way over to the baby's crib and just threw her a death stare.

"Why now? Why couldn't you be hungry three hours from now?" She just seemed to cry more. He groaned and picked her up, holding her and rocking her, hoping she'd calm down. But she just kept screaming. He quickly grabbed a bottle that was sitting on the changing table next to her crib and fed it to the screaming infant.

He knew he should be getting used to this. But now, it felt like it was day one all over again. It was because she had just turned eight months old. And Henry knew that Natalie was worried. 8 months….how old her brother was when he died. She was afraid that it would happen to her too. She was afraid she'd end up like her mother, grieving and crazy.

He just looked down at the tiny child in his arms, wiggling around, telling him to take the bottle from her, which he did. Before he didn't even know it was possible to love someone as much as he loved his daughter. He couldn't help but to feel bad for Natalie's mother. Losing her child at this age…He couldn't imagine would he would go through if he lost Gabrielle this early.

He just held her close to him and whispered, "Don't you ever leave me like that…I never want to lose you…"

He could hear her quiet cooing and assumed that she was agreeing to what he said. He held her and rocked her until she slowly fell asleep in his arms. He smiled at her and kissed her tiny forehead gently, walking out of the room soon. He quickly rejoined Natalie in their room, as he kissed her cheek, sliding back into bed next to her.

He could tell that he woke her up because she stirred a bit before muttering, "Did you get the baby?"

"Yes…"

"Sorry I made you do it…I'm dead tired…"

He just smiled and said, "It's ok…I'm just doing my job."

And with that the two of them fell right back to sleep, his arms around her and Gabrielle didn't make another peep for the rest of the night.
