The Impala's Lament
Ben and Lisa were having fun inside, but Dean was drawn to the garage, drawn to the sleek black lines and the gleam of silver. She sat, half in shadow, calling to him.
She hadn't been turned on in two weeks. His hunting gear sat in her trunk, idle. Her seats clear of debris, for the first time in years.
He couldn't look at her. He couldn't live this life if he had to look at her. The lump in his throat grew, his eyes burned though remained dry. He knew what he had to do.
He pulled the tarp over the car.
