Authors Notes:
This is just a Preface of what is to come in the first chapter of this fic. the characters i'm using are not mine but the creation of the brilliantly talented author Thomas Harris. Enjoy the fic. Please consider leaving a review and or any recommendations. I'm all for constructional criticism. As well this is my first fic, so do beware it might not be very good. pairing: Lecter and Clarice. based on the events in the book "Hannibal",right after Lecter and Clarice escape Mason and Clarice is wounded. M for sexual themes in later chapters.
Dr. Hannibal Lecter sat in the corner of a room, reclining on a leather chair with one hand pressed against his lips as he looked beyond into the darkness of the room.
The soft murmur of slow and steady breathing and the soft beeping of monitors were the only noises audible in the room.
He remained intently placid as he peered into the darkness that seemed to surround him, the only visible thing was the silhouette of a body that lie still in the bed which sat across from him.
Clarice Starling slept soundly in the bed, with eyes that danced behind her lids.
She shifted slightly under the covers, this provoked Dr. Lecter to rise from his comfortable spot in the corner to her bedside.
Where he delicately checked all of her vital signs as well as any monitors that she was hooked up to.
After this he stepped away from the bed and bent slowly toward the ground until he was in a kneeling position in front of the bed.
His face hovered over the beautifully sound asleep Clarice Starling.
His eyes shut softly in order to gain concentration, he then allowed himself at this time to indulge in the aroma that was Clarice.
He smiled to himself still taking in her sweet fragrance, from behind closed lids he could only imagine all the things that must make up this delicate perfume.
He sighed softly and opened his eyes once again.
She was so close and yet so tangible, he found himself lost in the image of her.
His Darling Clarice, it had been so long since he had last been so close to her.
And yet he remain apprehensive that he may not be able to control himself with this beautiful creature so vulnerable right before his eyes.
He shied away from her for a brief moment feeling much distaste toward himself for such thoughts.
But then allowed himself near once again.
He spoke in a whisper,"You are a warrior Clarice. You can do anything, you will never stop fighting or pursuing whatever it may be that attracts you, and for that my dear Clarice i'll never stop fighting for you, I'll never stop aching for you."
He then placed a delicate kiss upon her forehead and rose from his position beside the bed.
Dr. Lecter had had many lovers over the years but none had instilled in him such passion.
Now as he let his eyes rake over her still body he let his mind wonder…"Was a woman such as Clarice capable of loving a monster such as himself, could and would she be able to see through the bars of his plight and ache for him just as he aches for her?"
This remained unknown to him. He re-gathered his thoughts and returned to his seat in the corner and continued as he did once before to gaze into the perpetual darkness.
